Guest guest
Hi everyone, I hope the day finds everyone feeling well. I know how rough days can be. I appreciate all the input I have received as far as taking Xolair and will use that information should I need to be put on it after all. The reason I am now sounding as if I might not need to try it is that for 2 months I have been fighting an ongoing asthma flareup that just wouldnt get better-prednisone, more steriod inhalors and all the other " normal " ways to help weren't doing it. Saturday night was my very worst night ever, I wanted to be taken to the ER and beg them to just put me into the hospital and find out WHY i wasn't better-my peak flows were down to 210 and after nebulizing they would only go up to 220. Well I went off to sleep feeling miserable and my boyfriend was in the basement puttering around and for some reason (THANK GOD) he was by the hot water heater and noticed that the exhaust venting was off the heater and we have a gas water heater, so the carbon monoxide that was suppossed to go outside was being vented into our basement. He fixed it and then came and aired out the house, and by Sunday afternoon I began to feel human again, and now a few days later, I am almost back to what normal is like for me (like I could ever be normal..lol). My doctor was shocked and VERY happy when he saw me and saw the absolute turn around in my condition and told me that I had him scared. So at the moment, even though the weather is hot and humid, the allergens are up, I am lowering my dosages of prednisone and having no problems with that and feeling GREAT. For the first time in two months we actually ran around and window shopped and I didn't have to sit in the car while he ran the errands. So at this time I am putting the thought of the Xolair on the back burner and hoping this fluke was my wake up call to enjoy life and appreciate it. So please take a moment to at least visibly check your furnace/water heater for loose parts..I know I was not far from becoming a statistic as we have no idea how long that was down and how long we had been inhaling the fumes, thank goodness it is an older house and not well insulated. Even our animals are back to being " normal " playing around and rough housing with each other whereas for awhile there they were very mellow and slept ALOT..didn't make the connection. Take care and check your appliances please
