Guest guest
my dr suggested the pnemonia shot (pnemococcal vaccine) as another possibility to help strengthen my immune system and decrease the amount of infections i seem to have. so, monday afternoon i got it anyway, i had some crazy reactions to the shot. by monday night, i had a 102 fever. later that night, i had a lot of trouble breathing. like a dope, instead of going to the dr or ER, i went to work. i used my nebulizer more times on tuesday than i have in a looooooong time. i struggled to make it to two hours. tuesday afternoon, my upper arm, frommy shoulder to my elbow became one large hive (injection site). until the hives, i didn't put the breathing/fever together with the shot. when i called the dr yesterday, she had me take benedryl and report back today. the benedryl did nothing. the dr today said " if anyone would have a reaction, i knew it would be you " . gee, thanks!! she felt the benefits were far greater than the risks. i'm no better today than yesterday, but no worse either. she offered me an appt today, but i declined. i'd rather try to ride this out than face the alternative (prednisone). i've been pred free since thanksgiving! anyway, my long drawn out story was just wondering if anyone else ever got the shot? did you have a reaction? i'm wondering if xolair kept it from being worse, or if this type of reaction is above the abilities of xolair. thanks heather
