Guest guest
Has anyone heard of a food allergy to pork? It seems lately every time my wife eats pork she get an extreme upset stomach. They just switched my xolair Pharmacy provider from curascript to Precision RX. I Am having some problems, I self inject so need syringes, needles, etc. Precision RX is having a problem with that concept and has promised twice to send the " stuff " (I got the Xolair), so far nothing. This time the promised date is Wednesday, we will see. Hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas Ron
Guest guest
She Might be developing IBS Irritable bowel syndrome. I used to have an Iron Gut. As I got older i seem to be less tolerant of certain foods and pork unfortunatly is one of them. Really sucks seeing as i own a farm. ----- Original Message ----- From: ronaldcrpntr Sent: Monday, December 26, 2005 9:42 AM Subject: [ ] Food Allergies Has anyone heard of a food allergy to pork? Guest guest
I tested positive to pork allergies last January, but it was only a minor allergy. I can still eat it, but I need to be careful of eating it in combination with other foods that I am slightly allergic to. The combinations could cause a reaction where one alone may not. I don't have any truly severe food allergies thank goodness. -------Original Message------- From: ronaldcrpntr Date: 12/26/05 09:55:35 Subject: [ ] Food Allergies Has anyone heard of a food allergy to pork? Guest guest
Hi Ron: I get a prescription from my doctor for the TB syringes I need for allergy shots and have no problem getting them from the local Walgreens or other pharmacy. They cost about 25 cents each. Carol They just switched my xolair Pharmacy provider from curascript to Precision RX. Guest guest
Yes, they commonly test for food allergies along with inhalant (pollen, dust, mold etc.) allergies but testing for food allergies would be done or not based on the details of your specific symptoms. For example, if you only have symptoms during a particular season rather than all years around, your doctor may not test for food allergies. But if you have year-around allergy symptoms, most if not all allergy specialists would routinely test for food allergies as well as inhalant allegies. Guest guest
I was tested for allergies approximately 2 1/2 yrs. ago. Upon seeing my allergist recently I asked to be tested for food alllergies the next testing. I really found it hard to believe I wasn't tested for food allergies to begin with. Oh well , live and learn . I guess I should have been more assertive or noted a concern about this with my doctor. Sharon who tries to take nothing for granted anymore but appears to neurotic to most individuals.
Guest guest
We all have to be assertive and well informed before we walk through our physicians door. Empowerment of self is a great thing. You are entitled and should be getting the best care in the world living in the US and Canada. We are not in the 3rd world where they have not enough good medical facilities to care for them. We have to help guide our physicians if they are too busy or not prompted to think outside the box by an answer we give. They should do all testing for all patients but with the insurance companies tying their hands, it has become a tight rope walk for them. Most physicians should appreciate an educated patient, but their egos sometimes get in the way also. To all of you: if you need encouragement, advice, or the questions you should ask your allergist/pulmonologist please ask me. I'd be glad to offer any assistance I can.
