Getting off steroids/Addrenal Insuff

I had the worst time getting offf steroids. I was sicker than a

dog. And I ached to no end. First they thought I had a bad bladder

infection, then something else.....Finally after days of nausea and

vmitting and diarhhea I was admittted in so much pain and

dehydration. I saw an endocrinologist that ran a whole bunch of

tests. Well to make a long story short he said that basically my

adrenal glands have forgotten how to make their own steiroids. I

may never be able get off of them now. But he put me on a different

steroid it is called decadron instead of prednisone. I only take it

1/2 mg every other day and it if I have flair ups of my asthma in

the hospital they can give me the IV solumedrol and then my

pulmononlgist gets with the endocrinologist on how to decrease my

decadron.
