Guest guest
Yes, I have steroid induced diabetes; it is typically harder to control your sugars when you are on pred...being on the Xolair has dropped my pred dose down to 10mg a day and that is about as good as it will get, but my sugar control is MUCH better and I take a lot less insulin at that pred dose. The things that will help the most are losing even a few pounds (5 or 10 can make a big difference) and taking the diabetes classes your doctor will offer you...virtually ALL insurance companies pay for them because it is a complicated disease to manage. There are a lot of misconceptions...you will be able to eat cake and ice cream and fruit, just not huge quantities<vbg>. Actos worked well for me for a very long time until one of its (rare) side effects (edema) complicated my lung disease, so I was switched to insulin, but remember, I am or was on high daily doses of steroids and have been for over 20 years. I found it very depressing to hang another " disease " label on myself, but managing diabetes is all about control, and if it is one thing asthmatics appreciate, it is the ability to control symptoms<vbg>! Good luck Pandora > > Yep, I have been formally diagnosed as a type II Diabetic. Guest guest
My twelve year old who has been on Xolair for 13 months just got out of the hospital today. He was diagnosed with Type ! diabetes. He will be on insulin and a strict diet for the rest of his life. I get my shots tomorrow and will ask my allergist about it. My family doctor says it is safe. Doug

One of the wisest things one of my pastors ever shared with me when I was doubting was: " Either God is in conrtol, or he is not. I choose to believe that He is.
