Guest guest
HOORAY for starting xolair. the fight to start it, for many of us, is a long battle. think it took me four months to get it approved. i was so afraid when i changed insurance companies. the new ins. co. approved it in three weeks. go figure! glad you have not had side effects. it takes most people 4-6 months to see the benefits. it took me 6 months to start seeing the effects and now, after being on xolair for ten months, i think its effects have leveled out. i was averaging one sinus infection/bronchitus/URI a month before xolair. in the last ten months, i've only had three bouts of infections and one was before the xolair kicked in. i have decreased my inhaled steroid dose (flovent from 2200 mcg a day to 1000 mcg a day). the other meds have stayed the same, but i'm much better controlled, so its a small price to pay. the best news - no prednisone since mid april!! good luck with the xolair!! heather --- In , " Pamela " <crochetferret@y...> wrote: > > Yesterday was my first shot of Xolair - I have been waiting for 7 > months for my ins. co. to finally approve this. Some people experience the benefits of Xolair within the first few weeks, others like me have taken up to 6 months. We have to remember that Xolair is not a " rescue " medication like an inhaler. It does take some time to work. I was very fortunate that my insurance did not have a fit. The approved it right off the bat. At 1000.00 a month premium for the wife and I, darn right they needed to approve it! This was over a year ago Hope you see improvement soon Doug group founder
