Guest guest
Hello friends. My asthma has been quite a bit better over the last several months. I haven't been able to get a Xolair or regular allergy shot for over 3 weeks due to the holidays but I am still doing quite well I will get my regular shot today and Xolair Wednesday. Since my diagnosis of Type II Diabetes in Ocbober, I have really gone into high gear about watching my health. I completed the local hospital " Diabetic Self Help Classes " and learned quite a bit about fitness, diet and all around good health habits. At the time of my Diabetes diagnosis, I was 30 pounds overweight, never got any exercise, lipid profile was horrible (even on medication) and I ate like a horse. I was a lazy couch potato and a walking time bomb. Heart attacks run in my family and being diabetic increases the risk 62%. YIKES! My family doctor scared me half to death. She laid down the law to me and gave me two choices: 1. " live the Diabetic lifestyle " OR 2. " Loose your limbs, eyes, have a heart attack and die within the next 10 years. " MAN, what a wake up call. Since October, I have lost 25 pounds I have gone from a size 18 to a 16 shirt, 40 to a 36 waist, 46 to a 42 sportcoat and my lipid profile is EXCELLENT. Also, have my blood sugar averaging 120. (It was 230+) I have a Nordic Track Treadmill at the office and use it for 45 minutes every day. I share this with everyone because I believe that getting myself into shape and into better health overall has helped my asthma too. I only have to neb once a day if at all anymore. Of course, I am still nebbing with Pulmacort and taking Advair twice daily but I am doing so much better. Next allergy dr visit, I am going to see if he will take me off the advair and pulmicort too. Happy new year everyone. It is turning out to be a GREAT one for me Doug
