first of all, i want to start off by apologizing...i'm not usually a

whiney person. by nature, i'm a happy go lucky, see the glass as

half full, glad to be alive person.

my six months of no prednisone (my record!!) has come to an end. i

returned to the ENT, and he is so frustrated. somehow, despite

xolair for nine months, allergies have caused my sinuses to swell

beyond belief, to the point where my eye continues to swell as

sinuses flare. he has put me on a short pred taper. he admitted to

feeling awful b/c he gave me such hope two weeks ago. he really

thought we had this whole sinus disease under control, thanks to

xolair. he had said two weeks ago that the xolair was doing

miracles, and it didn't look like any more surgery would be needed.

yesterday, his new plan (with a dissappointed look on both our

faces) is the two weeks of pred, a two week period of no pred (to

see if swelling resumes) a CT and then we'll talk about a need for

surgery. he's hopeful though, that if we do surgery, the xolair will

help keep it all in check. (no allergy symptoms to cause problems).

i just wanted to cry...i'm so tired of it all....

ok, enough of that. now the good -- through all this, my lungs have

remained fairly stable. they have dropped in their funtion, but not

enough to make me want to increase any meds (my dr has me increase

flovent on a " as needed " basis, or start pred if i feel i need it,

and just letting her know). so at least thats good. i'm sure the

xolair is helping. not as much as i had hoped, but its definately

doing something. and with less steroids in me, i seem to be less of

a sponge for all the kid cooties that come my way at work! YEAH!!!

---- and a sidenote - is anyone taking serevent or advair? i heard

yesterday from a friend that most people on serevent, right after

taking it, find it to have a bronchodilator effect. thats an

indicator that its working or something?? anyone hear/experience

that...because i don't. hmmm

have a great saturday!
