Guest guest
Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm hoping to have similar results with Xolair treatments. It seems like I ve always got an URI, I get at least 10 or more per year. No sooner does one clear up than another one is right on it's tail. I have to wonder if I ve EVER gotten rid of them or if it's one long infection that just hides once in a while. My most recent (earlier this month) left me with pneumonia, double ear infection and sinus infection. I was put on cough syrup with vicodin, tessalon perles, and of course levaquin. It's been ages since I've taken anything but levaquin for a URI. I am very fortunate to have the asthma doc that I do. In fact, he'd asked me to let him know if I hadn't heard from the nurse about Xolair, so I figured I'd try to e-mail him on Friday. I'd left a message with his office but of course with the weekend approaching, I knew he wouldn't get the phone message. He E-MAILED ME BACK TODAY! I was thrilled because he said that he was very glad I took it upon myself to find a way to get him the message as quickly as possible, and he's happy to have another way to keep in touch and check up on me. He asked me to reply with my latest peak flow measurement, how much prednisone I've needed, (he trusts me to lower and up my dosage myself according to my peak flow) whether or not I have a fever, and if I'm able to get my flu shot from my PC this week! My boyfriend was shocked yet elated! How many docs are that thorough and willing to receive e-mails from patients... not to mention answering FROM HOME ON A WEEKEND! He said that he will get in touch with the nurse immediately tomorrow morning and make sure that she follows through soon. He said the sooner she gets my info, the sooner I can begin treatment. His goal is to get me where I'm able to work or at least go to school! It does sound like you have a great doc. I am on my first URI since last December, all thanks to Xolair. (I used to get 9 or so a year.) Xolair has helped my nasal allergies to a great extent as well, so I have no complaints.

Guest guest
Thanks, I was thrilled. He's really been wonderful. He's going to be disappointed tomorrow though. I have to e-mail him and tell him that I have definitely have level 3 cervical dysplasia if not invasive cervical cancer. I have to get some more procedures done on December 2nd to determine if it's invasive or not. I hope but am not sure what this does to my ability to use Xolair. Guest guest
Thanks . I'm keeping my chin up. I'm trying really hard to just think of it almost like having a mole removed or something like that. Once it's gone, it's gone. That's the only way I want to think of it! Today is my asthma doc's day off, and I don't want to bug him even with an e-mail. I guess the best thing I can do is wait until I hear from that nurse that will be going over my info and talk to her about it. I'm sure she'll know and will be able to convey things to him. I don't want to throw an unnecessary wrench in the works right now. If I tell him first, then she might not want to contact me, etc. One day at a time! Best of luck on getting through that first injection.
