Guest guest
Thanks for thinking of me, Greg! Yep, we had big winds and rain here from 11 until nearly 2. I was caught out in it. We had scheduled mandatory transportation training this morning for our children and families in our Head Start program whose children will be riding the bus to school. The transportation coordinator and I went in at 8am this morning to call families and reschedule for tomorrow afternoon, when it will be raining but not dangerous! Well, we didn't get out in time and I got caught out in torrential rains and got my car stuck in standing water about half a mile from our house. I hope my car will be okay! My nerves are shot and my sinus and lungs are very unhappy and will be until the barometric pressure goes up a little. We are without electricity and our neighborhood has a lot of limbs damage. Down the street there is a tree lying over power lines and against someone's car. We do have running water and it is not too hot, so all in all we have fared well. I am worried about the car b/c this is not a good week for me to be without it but I will manage somehow. Well, I'm gonna go and save the laptop battery. Take care, all of you! Guest guest
My sister (with her boyfriend and his mom) stayed in Punta Gorda during the hurricane, in a trailer. Trees fell, trailers flew, pipes busted but they were not injured in any way. Nor were any of their neighbors. Thank goodness! Sister called from a payphone at the Circle K. So, not all lines are down. ~~Sue~~
Guest guest
Mark & Michele, Glad to hear you and yours escaped unharmed. Hope your in-laws aren't stubborn the next time around. No doubt he would have been thrilled for the small incovenience of relocating for a short period of time if the storm had struck his area. Hello List: Mark & I walked around our property first thing in the morning yesterday noticing that it seem that everything around us was in tack. We both looked into each other eyes said and realize that we were Extremely LUCKY people. Hurricane Charley missed us by the skins of our teeth literally! Guest guest
Hello List: Mark & I walked around our property first thing in the morning yesterday noticing that it seem that everything around us was in tack. We both looked into each other eyes said and realize that we were Extremely LUCKY people. Hurricane Charley missed us by the skins of our teeth literally! We were only 30 miles away from were the storm actually hit Orlando .When it decided to skip over Lake County Area and in it's fury where it left Orlando residents and other Central Counties with enormous & catastrophic damages. As Mark & I watch the News and saw hundreds & thousands of trees down. Homes flatten to the ground etc. There are a 2 million people right now in the State of Florida without power and phone line are down everywhere!! They say people may not receive power for 2 weeks!!! All that damage could of been us we are shaking our head in disbelief. The " bull eye " of the storm was supposed hit Lake County head on! All the Disney attraction were also hammered hard all you can see is tons of fallen trees and we mean massive trees it will take weeks and months to clean up the attraction. The Orlando international Airport was hammered hard too! Many planes were flipped upside down, portions of the waiting area's & terminals were flatten or roofs ripped off. I could go on and on but when Mark & I were watching the news our mouth just dropped. It was mentioned that this storm was the worse storm in about 40 years for Central Florida. Seeing all the family and business owners life at a stand still and literally emotionally devastated. My heart went out to each and everyone of them. Sadly there was a Mobile Home Park that did not evacuate simply because the path of the storm was going away from them when suddenly unprepared & unexpected they got slammed hard and many people were in there trailer homes at that time the storm hit so unexpectedly there were many fatalities yet to be accounted for in that Trailer Park. I mentioned that because my in-laws and brother -in -law lived in a trailer park also in Lake County. People in Lake County that lived in Trailer Parks were told that it was Mandatory for them to move to a shelter or to a love ones for safety. Mark & I saw on the news so I urged my in-laws them to come and stay with us on two occasions and to not stay to long they have given everyone one a window to gather your things and find shelter. If it weren't for my brother - law Doug telling his folk's one more time that perhaps you should head over to Mark's & Michele's place they probably be there in there trailer home. Fortunately nothing happened. We follow them home the following morning to help my father -in- law unpack the car and my mother-in-law. And make sure they were comfortable. Thank goodness they had a place to return to this time....sigh ! My Father-in-law said next time it happens we are staying put! I hope he didn't mean that...sigh! Yet we have another 2 tropical storms to keep an eye on one called tropical le & one Earl. Earl is one we are told that this hurricane may take the same path heading for Lake County but to early to say at this point and lets hope there very wrong eh? But we shall be keeping a close on these to storms that are brewing out there. We will know more by the end of this week what will transpire. On that note enjoy your day! Cheers! Guest guest
addy, i'm glad you made it through charley - wishing it didn't irritate your lungs/sinuses like it did, but in time, you'll feel better. i'm hoping your car is not too damaged by the water. we got the remnants of charley here in NY about midnight (i think it was a trop. storm . unfortunately it wasn't a good week for it, seeing as i was due for my xolair last thursday and will not get it until this thursday b/c of the drs vacation schedule. lungs are tight/twitchy, sinuses are a small disaster and despite the air conditioner and hepa filter, my eyes have been all puffy and irritated this weekend. at least it shows me that the xolair is working! i didn't realzie you worked for head start. awesome! we're in similar fields. hope your nerves, and the rest of you calm down and feel better. heath > Thanks for thinking of me, Greg! > > Yep, we had big winds and rain here from 11 until nearly 2.
