Guest guest
Hi Cathie, I can tell you that the patients I speak to have had " lesser " symptoms after being on the Xolair for a while. You can still have a flare up if you get enough of an exposure to your allergens. IgE is continually being made in our bodies. The Xolair binds it, but if you get a significant exposure (dust mold from the house, pollen from grass) you can still have a flare up. That is why no one should ever be without their rescue inhaler. Hopefully this will pass quickly and be the last prednisone burst you will need. Take care & breathe well. Guest guest
Dear Cathie: It sounds strange that you're having symtoms like this considering you're taking Xolair. Keep track of your symtoms, your doctor may be right before Xolair your reactions probably would have been worst. I can't figure it out but, your doctor is the best person for this. And have been prednisone free since February. I needed to see my doctor last week for a flare up. It had begun weeks ago but I did not recognize it because I did not have the same symptoms. (First time Ihave had to call him because if it since October!) Before Xolair, I would be tired, have little energy, short of breathe doing simple things, and feel congested deep in the bottom of my lungs. I could actually feel the mucus moving around. This time, I was tired but not the lack of energy tired. I had been feeling edgy, stressed, and would cry at the " drop of a hat " . I thought it was from the stress of things going on in my life. My work moved from outside Boston to Downtown Boston, renovations began on me Dad's house that I am redoing and my Dad had to move out of the house for them. I will be moving back in with him when the renovations are complete. It was not until I was visiting a friend when the the landscapers came to cut the grass, that I had that familiar coughing and wheezing. That was when I noticed it could be my asthma. Spring has always been a terrible time for me and the high pollen and high humidity was just too much. Then I started to get that sufficating feeling, like I was breathing through a pillow. But I never felt the congestion in my lower lungs that I have always felt. Is the change in symptoms from the Xolair? My doctor even commented that although my asthma was active, it was not as bad as it had been in the past. We are hoping that this course of prednisone will take care of it. Thanks for listening and caring. This is a great group!! I don;t post often, but I do read and folow what is going on. Hope all is well with everyone.
