Oh, yes. My poor husband. It seems like every year I've been on

Prozac, I get less and less amourous. At times, I think I could easily

join a nunnery. Not that I don't enjoy sex when we have it, but I

hardly ever initiate things anymore. All I want to do in bed is sleep!

But I'm hoping the Wellbutrin will counterattack this. My doc said they

often prescribe it to counterattack some of the effects like this of

anti-anxiety meds.

Hi All. Have an appointment at the pain clinic Friday, last visit was suggested

that I might want to try some anxiety meds at night along with the pain meds

already taking. During the day I can keep busy and get away with tylenol and

such (patches too sometimes) for the pain but when night falls, the lights go

out, and it is time for my body to be still, the " pain demons " arrive, along

with the spasms, numbness, ice cold feet, tingling, all descend at once. While

waiting for the hydrocodone to kick in, I realized that yes, I do have anxiety.

Maybe meds for that might help me relax and sleep a little more than a couple

hours a night. Was wondering what you all have had any luck with and the name of

the meds so I can look them up and be alittle more informed on Friday. Thanks.

To give you a few to look at:

Ativan

Centrax

Dalmane-used for sleep and anxiety

Klonipen

Librium

Restorail-used for sleep and anxiety

Serax

Tranxene

Xanax

Inderal

Buspar

Celexa

Desyryl

Effexor

Luvox (only drug approved for anxiety in kids)

Prozac

Serzone

Zoloft

Adapin (pain and anxiety)

Elevil

Tofranil pain and anxiety

I left off a whole class of drugs that I personally don't think should still

be prescribed called MAO inhibitors (eating certain cheese while on the med

can have deadly consequances or herring and other food)

Rhonda,

I name all the " ones you would never think of " and forgot the one of the

best.....Rhonda...are you on it for spasms or for anxiety...if you don't

mind me asking? I think in my opinion it is the absolute best muscle

relaxer out there, the one medical people should compare all others too.

I take Valium (just 2 mg) once a day, twice if I need it, plus

Wellbutrin. I have taken Xanax before as well, both short and long

acting. Probably for your purposes, the short acting would work well

for you. I think chronic pain and depression/anxiety go hand in hand

- I have been dealing with pain and depression/anxiety for 10 yrs now.

What about a sleep med like Ambien though? That way you can get

rest... my Valium does relax me but doesn't really help me sleep.

Sometimes in the middle of the night I take a Hydrocodone and you're

right - waiting for it to kick in is maddening... feels like an hour. : )
