A question for the group - If you are an asthmatic, what is the probability of your child developing to, or having a child who would develop asthama?

Hi Ash:

I am new to the group, so I hope you don't mind my jumping in with a response to your question regarding children of asthmatics developing asthma. My father, who was born in 1906, had asthma all of his life...........my brother, age 46, has also had asthma since birth. I developed asthma at the age of 33, and two of my four grown sons had asthma in childhood, although their symptoms have dissipated, at least for now. One other son suffers from allergic rhinitis, but so far, no asthma, and my youngest son, age 21, has never even suffered as much as a sniffle from allergies.

I guess it depends on what is passed down to us. Hope this helps.

Marge

had or do have asthma now. That includes ALL the women.I have three

sons and they donot have asthma at all.I think I stopped it in my

family. My cousin also had all boys and no asthma. My aunt dies at 102

and they said it was her asthma. This is kindof funny as don't you

all think that she really died of old age?

Well, hoping that Asthma will not show up in your family again.
