Guest guest
I had an ablation after having a pacemaker for over a year. The afibs continued on an average of one in six weeks. I am so sick of hospitals, but I had the ablation and everything is fine with that. Now, I have congestive heart failure with pulmonary edema. Seems all the afibs did a bit of damage, or it was there before, but the afibs masked the symptoms. Docs are great, more meds, change life style....diet and exercise, but this is so much better without the afibs......I can make plans without fear. The ablation is not too serious, general anesthetic is always dangerous, but with a good team, there should not be any problem. The only thing I can think of now is about the possibility of infection.....last year when I got the pacemaker, I was put on two or three antibiotics, but none this year with the ablation.....might be something to discuss with doc. Hope things work out.....I really do feel so much better...... JazzyJ

Guest guest
Good morning folks I really love to read about people with icd's. I have one. Your successes and failures are inspirational to me and lots of other readers as well, but I like to read them on the zapper, web page not in my e-mail. Might this fine string of information and support be better off on the web page so folks can read this as they wish and not filling up their e-mail. Besides using the e-mail " reply or forward " we keep sending the advertisement at the bottom of the page that seemed to tick allot of folks off. This is just my humble opinion. God bless you all. Guest guest
Bob: None of us actively seek out those ads that appear at the bottom of our messages, but that is the price we pay for this free service. Using the web page is an option for those that prefer it, but some of us enjoy the interaction that goes on. I tend to be a loiterer and lurker most of the time, but occasionally there is a message that makes me want to respond directly. I suspect a lot of us feel that way as some of the ZAP messages are relative to our conditions and some are not. (My wife is still trying to get my cardiologist to fix it so that every time that I told one of my usual bad jokes, I'd get zapped. thank God the Cardiologist told her that I tell so many the zapper would be running continuously and we couldn't afford the new batteries.) Guest guest
Sounds like the " guys " love to joke about these bionic parts we have. Our " joke " is what happens if I get zapped during sex. Guest guest
Hehehehehehehheheehhahahahahahahah....I get a kick out of what the AICD Patient Handbook says regarding " Intimacy " . If you should get a shock during intimacy, your partner may feel a tingling or a buzz. Hey friends, I say if my partner isn't ALREADY getting a tingling or a buzz, I'm doing something wrong! ;o) Hope you are all well and having a great week...... Take Care! Guest guest
My husband is worst than that, Bill. He actually asked my cardiologist just a day before surgery for my first ICD if the unit came with a REMOTE!!!!! He is also a little like Tim the Toolman . When my doc was telling us he hadn't decided on a single or dual chamber ICD, told him " I want the mega model " we are not doing this again. (Like the WE). So I decided to get even. Awhile after we were home, , who always has the remote, couldn't understand why the TV wouldn't stay on his channel. I had secretly programmed a second remote adn kept changing channels. Told him my ICD did it!!! Good for a laugh. Take care, Eileen > Bob: > > None of us actively seek out those ads that appear at the bottom of our > messages, but that is the price we pay for this free service. Guest guest
Sue We have had the same thought! I brought this up in Tues. chat and asked anyone if it had ever happened to anyone. Does your partner really get a jolt? It has to have happened to someone. > Sounds like the " guys " love to joke about these bionic parts we have. Guest guest
Hmmmm. If women can fake orgasm, maybe we men can fake being zapped from our partner's technique. Guest guest
Bob... basically they burn holes in your heart to make new pathways of conduction... hopefully this link will take you to site that can explain it in more detail... it's becoming a common practice, but not one to be undertaken lightly nor w/out much research and consideration... http://www.aboutatrialfibrillation.com/treated.html JES in Southern NJ God Bless America > HI ALL, > > can someone give me a good explanation as to just what ablation is.....i > hear the term so often, and i dont really know what it means.... > > bob in pa > > ps...juanita,,,god bless and good luck > > --- > [This E-mail scanned for viruses by IAS, an Archiventure Company]
Guest guest
Bob - Here's another site with a pretty good explanation: http://www.medtronic.com/tachy/patient/treatment_ablation.html I am having the catheter kind done (not open heart) -- it is considered same day surgery and they will map the primary arrhythmia and then "burn" it with low frequencies of electricity to eliminate the pathway option. ita ABLATION HI ALL, can someone give me a good explanation as to just what ablation is.....i hear the term so often, and i dont really know what it means.... bob in paps...juanita,,,god bless and good luck---[This E-mail scanned for viruses by IAS, an Archiventure Company]Please visit the Zapper homepage athttp://www.ZapLife.org

Hopefully I'll have good news soon! ita Ablation Hi ita,I hope your ablation will go smoothly and that you feel like a million bucks when a couple days have gone by. Unfortunately, because of my heart damage, I can't have the procedure. So be happy.......if it works it can be wonderful. I' ll be thinking about you tomorrow and will be awaiting news of the results.Tom in PAPlease visit the Zapper homepage athttp://www.ZapLife.org
Guest guest
Howdee all, I had an ablation of C3 and Occipital nerve today. Feel crappier now. From what I have read I'm supposed to feel worse before I feel better? How long? When I had the nerve block I felt better right away.
