Guest guest
Hi. It's been awhile since I've posted here, but I read the posts every day in my email. I am 32 years old, and have had bad right shoulder and arm pain for probably 3 + years now. (not including my lower back as well) I have herniations at C4-C5 and L4-L5 and S1. So, it (whatever " it " is) has affected my entire spine. ( DDD, I think)I have had constant burning and achy pain in my neck forever it seems. But, now I have to act. I have a 16 month old daughter, and I need to be in better shape for her. I am having fusion surgery APr. 7 at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, NJ. It is a great hospital. I am posting to get some feedback as to what to expect. I suppose anything is better than what I am currently experiencing. Anyway, look forward to any replies. Thanks Amy
Guest guest
I have herniations at C4-C5 and L4-L5 and S1. *************************************************** Amy, How many of these problems does your surgeon hope to repair during this one surgery? Last Feb 06, I had fusion with a titanium cage at S1-L5. My hospital stay was 4 days and I had a home health care nurse and PT person come to my house for 14 additional days. I really think " my climb out of the hole " was over at about 6 weeks. I started walking more often and further. I also was released to go to the " PT building " (not at home) and had some serious PT. NO, I was not well at 6 weeks but I did feel like living. My legs were totally pain free. I have Osteoarthritis, this is creating lots of problems all over. Very soon I will be having surgery to correct the same problem at C6-C7. Wishing you well and hope you feel like talking more about your upcoming surgery.
