Guest guest
hot packs workes best for me, carolyn ---------[ Received Mail Content ]---------- Subject : Question: Lumbar MRI shows " mushiness " as per neurosurgeon/LESI?LONG! Date : Sat, 02 Feb 2008 14:10:15 -0000 From : " oklamom23 " <okmom23@...> To : spinal problems Hi everyone, I had another LESI in November, then another lumbar MRI early Dec. At the end of Dec., I went for my follow up to the neurosurgeon to get the results from my lumbar MRI. He told/showed me areas around my L 4-5, that are " mushy " from receiving LESI's. I really got the impression he did not want me to have anymore steroid injections! But, surgery is out of the question due to bleeding problems. I have not had any spinal surgery. When I left his office, I was hit broadside by a woman running a red light! I've had DDD in my cervical area, with some numbness/tingling right hand, last two digits, BEFORE accident. I began to have pain within one hour after the accident. I had only had the numbness/tingling before the accident, now my neck and upper back, right arm, hurt! My car was undrivable, and is still in the repair shop with 5K damage to it. Had a cervical MRI last week, and compared to one year ago : At the C5-6 level there are large posterior and anterior vertebral ostephytes with large central disk herniation. This is also present at the C6-7 level, although C5-6 worse. There is considerable canal stenosis at the C5-6 level. At the C6-7 level there is mild canal stenosis. These findings are unchanged at the C6-7 level and worse at the C5-6 level. Questions: A cervical steroid inj. has been rec. and I have never had one. I am going to PT 2 x a wk., taking muscle relaxers, etc., doing exercises, e-stim @ PT, massage, heat. Spinal canal stenosis? How wide is your canal supposed to be? I just turned 56, and lead a fairly sedentary life due to the lumbar pain. Are there any other modalities that you have tried to ease the neck pain? Thx, D. Suggestions/advice appreciated! Thank you:)
