Guest guest
Judy, Friday will indeed be a day you'll never forget! Here's wishing you all the best for surgery!! <smile> What CI did you choose? Just wondering because I don't remember you sharing this information with the list. You can't go wrong with any of the 3 implant brands because they all provide us with the gift of hearing. I'm so excited for you!! Congratulations!! <smile> Implanted: 12/22/04 Activated: 1/18/05 Deafblind/Postlingual BTE hearing aid user 20 years Severe-profound hearing loss 10 years
Guest guest
First, good luck on Friday Judy (I will be crossing my fins and tail that all will go ok for you). Now , while we are waiting to hear what brand Judy decided on, how about yours? What brand do you have? I like what I read so far on Nucleus Freedom Water Resistance. I will now read up on HiResolution Bionic Ear. Dolly Dolphin K. wrote: : Re: Big Day Judy, Friday will indeed be a day you'll never forget! Guest guest
Congratulations Judy. I wish you well during your surgery on Friday. I was very apprehensive just before my first surgery. However, the night before, I had a pizza with bell peppers, jalapeƱo peppers, black olives, extra pepperoni extra sauce, and Italian sausage. I figured if I didn't wake up, I would be in cholesterol coma. The night after surgery I had a big, nutritious bowl of chicken noodle soup. You will be in my prayers along with the doctor and team doing the surgery. As soon as you are able to let all of us on the digest know how surgery went and how you are doing will be welcome news. So you are from sunny ville, Florida? My husband and I have been there on vacations and have very good friends living there. We are in San , California where the sun finally came out yesterday and it was so wonderful! Your journey will begin tomorrow and you will be hearing again soon....what a miracle! I am ready to be scheduled for my surgery soon too. Gardner

Guest guest
Today is the big day to see the neurosurgeon. I have been building myself up all morning as to what I might ask. As I mentioned before, Ā I have multiple things going on in my spine. I don't want to get brushed off by them telling me " if you loose the weight " . Ā If he ask me that I might just loose something and it won't be my weight. The last surgeon I seen in 2001Ā told my husband that he should trade me in while I still had some mileage left on me. HaHa for him, I know it was a joke, But how disrespectful. That is how things get planted in others heads. There on his desk sat a picture of his rebuilt wife ( plastic surgery ). Fotunate for him he had money becauseĀ from the wayĀ he looked it wasn't by attraction. Ā Ā I just hope that this experience will be better.Ā Any advise to what I might ask on the first visit? Guest guest
, I hate to tell you, but no neurosurgeon worth his salt is NOT going to say something about the weight. Weight gain can be the cause of multiple back problems, and many times weight loss can be the solution. Most sugeons also believe that if they operate on people who are overweight/obese they won't get better after, because the weight still causes the problems on the spine and because they are muchless active and less likely by far to do what is needed to rehab their bodies after surgery. This mindset comes from years of experience. Also, I just have to say that it was INCREDIBLY unprofessional and disrespectful what your last surgeon said. Docs are NOT allowed to joke in that manner. As far as I'm concerned, that's harrassment! I'm disgusted.Ā --- ________________________________ From: Moran <lilbizzybeez@...> spinal problems Sent: Friday, October 10, 2008 8:34:07 AM Subject: Big Day Today is the big day to see the neurosurgeon. Guest guest
Been reading about doctors suggesting losing wt before surgery. About 30 yrs ago I injured my knee while fishing - I jumped across some rocks when my leg fell down between the rocks & I ended up looking the opposite way from my toes. It was very painful & swollen but the 1st orthopedic surgeon I saw refused to even look at my knee - just looked at me & said nothing was wrong w/my knee except I needed to lose weight. Several yrs later as my knee kept getting worse & I was in constant pain, I went to a different orthopedic surgeon, he took an MRI & then did an arthroscopy - said tissue couldn't be repaired as it was torn to bits so he scraped it all out & said eventually I would need a total knee replacement, which I had 10 yrs later. Some drs are just jacka.....s! I worked at a hospital very closely w/both medical students, interns, residents and doctors for 19 yrs - some were exceptional - others were jacka....s & thought they were God! And they should never have been allowed to continue their medical studies IMHO. > > I'm glad you had such a sensitive doc and such a good outcome! --- > > > > > ________________________________ > From: Jere & Cyndi McFarland <jcmcf2@...> > spinal problems > Sent: Friday, October 10, 2008 1:04:34 PM > Subject: Re: Big Day > > > A while back I was having a lot of trouble with my knees.
