Guest guest
Debbie, Thank you for your wonderfully informative posts/replys. I have learned so much about the system in OK from you! I do have a great case-manager for Medicaid, (in town), not OKC- which is VERY helpful also. Special Needs Unit? Hmmmm... I will need to research this! I did get an " Advantage Waiver " (Medicaid), must have Medicare also,SSDI, and qualify financially. But definitely worth the application process...Includes most medications, PT, OT, Transportation, Weekly meals, some durable medical equip., and a Personal Care Assistant, Light Housekeeping, Laundry, Grocery Shopping, etc. My quality of life has definitely been impacted, positively...by these services. I have had the same assistant for 2.5 yrs. now! She was hard to find, but I am very grateful I did. I get 20 hrs. of PC services a week, and she has been very good also to my DD with autism. The assistants seem to become part of your family, if they are good! Maybe someone else could benefit from a Medicaid Advantage Waiver here in the group? Every State has different requirements, as it is funded both Federally and at the State Level. When I got my waiver in 2004, there was no " waiting list. " I'm not sure about now... I'm glad your DD is doing so well with her recovery! Donna
