Guest guest
Hi Addy: Thanks, for your reply about my hearing loss. I went to my Allergist today. I told him about the Allergist (different doctor) who gives me the Xolair shots, had increased all of my allergy/asthma medications, because I'm wheezing, and my sinuses are bothering me more. He said instead of getting my allergy shots every 4 weeks I should get them every 3 weeks now. It is definitely the high mold we have been having this year. Even my eyes have been itching like crazy. Hope your well. kathy pyle456 <coachmac@...> wrote: Kathy, I wonder if your docs will ever be able to determine why your hearing further deteriorated. I'm sorry to hear that you have had further hearing loss. Fortunately, hearing aid technology is much better than it was (my dad's been wearing them for 30+ years). Guest guest
Hi Carol: I use to get the shots every week, then two, then three, and now four. I'm going to try them every three weeks, and see how it goes. Thanks, Kathy Carol Corley <mybouvs@...> wrote: Kathy wrote: He said instead of getting my allergy shots every 4 weeks I should get them every 3 weeks now. Hi Kathy: My allergist said one of his patients is a doctor and he feels best getting his allergy shots weekly. I was doing them every 2 weeks when I did them myself, but now it's too far to go, so I'm trying them monthly. If I notice a difference, I'll go back to every 2 weeks. Guest guest
Hi : You could be right, but because several other Xolair patients brought it up, it made me thing about my hearing loss. There's quit a few Xolair patients out there with this problem. I sent Xolair people an e-mail and they didn't mention anything except, tell your doctor. kathy Caldwell-Bissell <nightsky@...> wrote: Hi Kathy, I was thinking, your continued deterioration of hearing may be a process that is taking place and unrelated to the Xolair. Guest guest
Hi all, I have a question for those of you who are concerned that xolair is related to your hearing loss. Have you consulted an audiologist or had any hearing tests to determine if your loss is due to conduction (ie bones in middle ear defect) or neural deficits (ie anywhere from the cochlea to cranial nerve XII and the auditory processing center in the parietal area)? The reason I ask is that repeated bouts of sinus infections are definitely linked to conduction deficits and meningitis will cause neural conduction loss. Perhaps it is just a coincidence that the loss occured at the same time as you took the medication? Guest guest
Hi Everyone: As I said before I have NO ear drums, due to constant sinus infection. Yes I've had a hearing loss for years. Yes my hearing has been checked many times. Yes, I have hearing aids for both ears. But, since I've been on Xolair, my hearing has diminished ever further very noticeable and faster. Because there were MANY complaints concerning hearing, I put my two cents in too. Kathy uca79iii <uca79iii@...> wrote: > > - thanks for that post. They would not go away with over the counter antibiotic cream and steroid creams. I immediately panicked and thought: " Oh my, this new powerful shot is causing me to break out in hives all over. " I immediately called my doctor and he said: " relax, no side effects like this are mentioned in all the FDA trals. " This answer did not satisfy my anxiety at all so I saw a dermatologist. Before my office visit, he studied up on xolair and it's components. When I saw him, he immediately told me that it was NOT the xolair but probably was a small spread out case of psoriasis. He did a biopsy and his diagnosis was correct. He also said that all the evil candy I was taking had probably taken care of the psoriasis and since I was now off of it, that those spots had become worse. He prescribed me 2 creams. I used them for a month and the psoriasis went away. Well, thats the last time I blame xolair for something that is not on the side effect list. Guest guest
Hi : I got my info. from the Xolair patients on this web site. kathy Caldwell-Bissell <nightsky@...> wrote: I didn't know there were " quite a few Xolair patients out there with this problem " . Where did you get the information? I would like to know more. I have been to ENT and the MRI didn't show any changes in fact the mastoid had improved. I go to a neurotologist in Sept. The meningitis I had was 14 months before the hearing loss which occurred 3 months after starting Xolair. Thanks, --------------------------------- Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr.
