Well, I'm finally going in on Thursday for the op on Friday, at Queens

Medical Centre, Nottingham, England, by Mr Mehdian.

I'm having L4, L5 and S1 fused with rods and a bone graft.

Anyone else had this or similar and can tell me what to expect in terms

of how long roughly it should take to come round for visitors? My op

is at 07:00 and they say I should be back on the ward for 11:00, but

that seems very quick to me.

I'm told I'll have four drains in my back, so will I wake up on my side

or front, or will they hold well enough for me to be on my back?

How long before they drains go (if all goes well) and I can get out of

bed to go to the toilet, etc?

Any other advice would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Gareth.
