Guest guest
, I too am familiar with those night time pain demons. Once in a while I try to turn every thing off and try going to sleep with peace and quiet.....naaaaat! All I would feel is pain, and yes the anxiety builds, then bam!! up and about and miserable. But this was before I went through the medication " dial a wheel " . lol I was on valium, but the required dose caused me to have the side effect of agitation. I had to tell my doctor that it made me B I itchey. ha ha ha ha I was also on Wellbutrin, which I thought worked well, BUT if it is mixed with flexeril, the side effect is not being able to pee, and I ended out in the emergency room and came home with a cathather for a little over a week... lol Okay, then I was on Elavil, and it did help me sleep, and it did help with the pain for little a while. Then I got sick and couldn't keep anything down and wasn't able to take it, well nobody told me that if you miss your Elavil, a side effect is not being able to sleep. AT ALL I went three and a half days like that. It was horrible to say the least. I was also on restoril and it worked very well, but short term. So I had to stop it, but, I am on it again, and it is still working, abiet I don't take it every single night. Probably why it still works. But I am also taking ativan, and have been for quite a while with no ill effects. I usually need it at night when my anxiety builds. I usually start feeling it about 7-8pm. Right now, I am on a more frequent dose through out the day too, because we have found out that it helps with my pain almost as much as pain pills sometimes. I guess because of the body tensing up. Okay, now this seems funny to me, but here goes..... I'll try and make it quick. Lunesta--didn't work & terrible taste in the mouth Ambien--works great...short term Tofranil--na, didn't like it. groggy all the time, bad taste again. There's more, but I stop. Okay, done with my " dial a wheel " of medications. Now that I see this, it's kinda sad too, to have been through so many medications. But I do have a message to everybody. I never thought my being grouchy was due to " valium " , nor did I ever think that wellbutrin and flexeril would send me to the ER. So, please pay close attention to how you are when you start a new medication, and if something seems different or off.... it could be that new medication. Believe it or not, I do have more experiences with medications, but I don't want to write a journal. Some of them are comical, others are not.... So just be careful, trust your instincts. And I have to say, writing this has really helped me keep my mind off of my pain tonight. Take care & gentle hugs Sue > > Hi All. Have an appointment at the pain clinic Friday, last visit was suggested that I might want to try some anxiety meds at night along with the pain meds already taking. During the day I can keep busy and get away with tylenol and such (patches too sometimes) for the pain but when night falls, the lights go out, and it is time for my body to be still, the " pain demons " arrive, along with the spasms, numbness, ice cold feet, tingling, all descend at once. While waiting for the hydrocodone to kick in, I realized that yes, I do have anxiety. Maybe meds for that might help me relax and sleep a little more than a couple hours a night. Was wondering what you all have had any luck with and the name of the meds so I can look them up and be alittle more informed on Friday. Thanks. > > in NH > > > >
