Guest guest
i'm sorry for this being off the xolair topic, but i had a question for you.. some previous history -- my dr (allergy/asthma/immunology) has literally tried everything to " boost " my immune system. i seem to catch every resp. cootie around. she's ordered countless labs, and they all show nothing but an elevated IgE. last year, i got the pnemovax, in effort to fight off a certain strain of sinus infections/resp infections. we did a pre/post level on the pnemococcal antibodies present, so we're sure my body accepted the shot. i've also been on daily biaxin i've been on for a year in efforts to reduce inflamation in my sinuses (to prevent a sinus infection), which i know makes the erithmomycin (sp??) class of antibiotics worthless to me for antibiotic properties. after 5-6 weeks of feeling like general crud, i've got a whopper of an infection (resp, sinus and ears). my dr approached me with this -- seeing as " conventional " therapies have not made a difference, she asked if i'd consider " non traditional " therapies. she gave me homework to research ASTRAGALUS - its some chinese herb that is known to boost the immune system. she said look it up, talk to people and then we'll decide if its worth it. has anyone ever tried chinese herbs? my one concern is the lack of FDA regulation. i haven't done any research on it yet, but i thought i'd ask if anyone had tried it. thanks heather ps -- hope its okay i went off topic =o) " There is a time in every man's education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide; that he must take himself for better, for worse, as his portion; that though the wide universe is full of good, no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground which is given to him to till.
