Guest guest
Kathy-- Welcome home! I didn't have an anterior procedure, but I did have two C-sections, and boy-oh-boy do I remember the misery at each bump in the road for the first few weeks! I'm surprised they let you out of the hospital without first having a BM; even without an anterior procedure, they didn't kick me out until after that. Best wishes for a swift and successful recovery, Beth (Long Island) > > I have been reading the posts over the past couple of days & there is so much to talk about. First I want to say a special thanks to S. for the phone call...to R. for arranging for Betty Ochoa to come & visit. OK...here goes...for Pamela " Yes " I am the Kathy that walked like an old lady prior to revision. My before pics are in the photos section. You won't have that little " swish " to your walk anymore, but I think I walk GREAT now after revision. For , I fall into the category of being perimenapausal prior to revision. My periods were no longer regular. I haven't had a period since right before my first big surgery 3 years ago...at the age of 46. > I was so glad to see R. posting. My physical therapist gave me the bum's rush out the door when I stopped in to see her. I hope your recovery is going well. As for me...I'm not NEAR as peppy after my anterior than I was after my posterior. I had everything all planned out...with one mistake. My plan was to get to the airport and have an attendant set me up with a wheelchair. It's a great idea...if you have someone your know pushing the chair. Since I was traveling alone, I was at the mercy of the attendant...which managed to hit every crevas & bump at full speed ahead. So needless to say, it felt like I got body punched repeatedly by a professional boxer!!! I think R. said already that I didn't exactly get ant anterior approach. My incision is in the soft spot on my left side, right above my hip & right below my rib cage. It hurts ALOT more than I expected. So this time I won't be posting any miraculous recovery stories. I just thank God that I had my first BM today LOL. I'm just so glad to be home & talking to all of you again. > Sincerely........................Kathy >
Guest guest
Kathy, Yeah...that anterior approach is a bit of a sucker punch after a relatively easy posterior day, isnt it? But the good news is that things seem to be falling back in place for you and you are on your way to healing well. The surgery is really in your rear view mirror now and you can focus on whats next. A big YIIPPPEEEE and congratulations are in order. I am sorry you had to endure the wheelchair ride from hell on the way home. I think that for all of us that had to travel any distance to get home, one way or another, we learned that our implants and hardware were stronger than our pain thresholds! In my hour (and change) drive to the boat home, I felt like my husband hit every winter pot hole that Boston could throw at him (which is lots!)....but of course he claimed he was hitting the smaller ones to avoid the bigger ones....some consolation. I thought permanant damage must have been done...but luckily it was just my imagination. Rest and recover. Growing good bone is hard work. Guest guest
A ride in a wheelchair can be very bumpy in an airport. The way to avoid being hurt is to watch the floor and as the attendant pushes you towards a bump or crevice, put your arms on the arm rests of he wheelchair, and putting all your weight on your arms near your elbows, raise your body up so that your tush is not really resting on the chair. It's easy to do and the bumps on the floor won't bother you at all. Bonnie
