Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Welcome back. It's nice to know that you had a great trip to Florida. Have your son asked for a sister? You know, even though you didn't have the chance to do much workout. Babysitting is an exercise all in its own. You have to carry and feed and lift...I can go on, so you did exercise with the help of the babies. I wish my son would help me lose some pounds...but right now I'm just gaining. Well nice to have you back and hope you enjoy your upcoming workouts. much aloha, Anela > Well, we finally got back from our trip to Florida yesterday. It rained most of the way back but at least we beat the snow. My new nieces are so tiny and cute! My sister-in-law of course is exhausted, but getting used to no sleep. My boys went crazy over them - my 12 year old stayed overnight to help twice and even skipped a day at the beach to help with the babies! We miss them alot already! > > I didn't get to workout everyday due to lots of babysitting, but managed to get in walking in 4 days, and DVD workouts in 3 times. I came back 3 pounds lighter so I must have done something right. > > Back to work in the snow today - sigh! > > Kathy
Guest guest
We came back from Disney on Wed the 29th. We had left home on Wed the 22nd & flew down on the 23rd. It was a nice trip BUT definitely too much walking. All day Thursday we were traveling, then Friday & Sat all we did was go from 1 attraction to another. My husband's cousin had planned so many things we didn't want to disappoint her. By Sunday my legs were aching, then Monday I noticed they were swollen. I know I have nerve damage to the nerves in my legs ( I have had 8 back surgeries ) and think the swelling was caused by too much time on my feet. Does that happen to anyone else? Guest guest
Hi Diane, It can happen to me too. Between sitting for the travel period (car or plane) followed by a vacation diet probably higher in salt...topped off by drinking less water (or more wine!) than I should. Once I get back in my home routine it goes away. I know you are a nurse and likely already know the perils of deep vein thrombosis after periods on inactvity common on a plane or car (or revision surgery!)....so dont rule anything out if you are worried that this seems outside your " normal " . Take Care, Cam > > We came back from Disney on Wed the 29th. We had left home on Wed the 22nd & flew down on the 23rd. It was a nice trip BUT definitely too much walking. Guest guest
Dear Cam, Thanks so much for writing. I KNOW its from my back & all the spinal surgeries I've had. What always complicates matters for me is I have also had open heart surgery. Now it was not for a problem, but for a birth defect that wasn't found till I was 48. Everyone is born with an ASD but it closes within a wk. Mine never closed & noone ever noticed plus I had NO symptoms. In fact when my legs swelled the 1st time, I had an ECHO. After it, they told me I should see a cardiologist but being I had no symptoms & I was having such problems with my back I did nothing about it. It was just too much to deal with all at once. Two yrs later while at University of Pennsylvania Medical Center being evaluated for yet another back surgery, I thought I'd better mention it. They shipped me right down stairs & did a bubble ECHO. He told me then I needed open ht surgery yesterday. My right side of my ht had become severely enlarged. So for my 50th B day present I had open ht surgery. That was Jan of 96. Dr Memeth Oz did it at Columbia Presbyterian. He is an amazing man and a superb dr. I have had absolutely no problems. I just had an ECHO, and everything is normal. Thank God, dealing with my bk and hypohyroid ( also caused by all the myelograms I had cuz of my bk ) & a prolapsed rectum ( also caused by my bk from opiates that caused constipation leading to that ) have been more than enough for me. Now I have an appointment for Carpal Tunnel surgery. UGH I know its minor being all I've been through but I am just so sick of it all. In fact after the Revision and feeling so good after sooo long I avoided the drs completely for 5 yrs. Well you know why I get concerned about the leg swelling. I am just grateful to God its not from my heart.I have been home now since Wed nite & its already almost gone & I am feeling great. I also had a sinus inefection when I got home but called my dr immediately & got an antibiotic. I don't know Cam I rarely go on vacation & it seems like more trouble than its worth. We all got sick, not only me!!! Take Care & God Bless, hope you have a very healthy happy new year. Diane > > > > We came back from Disney on Wed the 29th.
