Guest guest
Liesel, I too have been more of a lurker than reciprocating member. I sympathize with your pain and frustration! I have now been diagnosed with "fixed kyphosis" and sacoliosis above S1-T10 fusion. This has been getting progressively worse since my third surgery in 2005. My doc,Dr. Errico from NYU hospital doesn't want to risk operating on me again so I went to the Univ of land Spine Ctr in Baltimore and met with a Dr. Ludwig at their Ortho group. He is willing to operate on me despite the fact that I've had radiation treatments on my back (renal cell cancer-1981). I chose to see Dr. Ludwig because he aslo has a background in Oncology and understands the risks that radiation presents. I have more testing to go thru before a decision is made on my part for further surgery and I will have to see a plastic surgeon for wound closure as I did with the last fusion. I want my life back!!! I'm tried of taking so many pills just to get a little relief from the ongoing pain. I want to be free of my walker..and most importantly I would like to be close to my original 6"1" heoight rather than the 5'7" I am now! I'll be truly blessed if I can once again stand up straight! AND I want to sleep in bed with my husband rather than on the recliner that has become my closest friend! I've been going thru the web looking for info re "rib hump" fixed kyphosis and surgery protocols with some success. I can tell you quite honestly that the bulk of my knowledge re flatback and scoliosis has been learned from the group! I wish you luck with prayers for your July surgeries...... Guest guest
June, Thank you kindly. I hear you, I want my life back too. For me, waiting for surgery is no longer an option. Gosh, it sounds like you have had quite a tough go of it. I'll certainly be thinking of you and will say a prayer that all goes smoothly for your next surgery. I have found tremendous support here and a wealth of information. I am eternally grateful. Especially when my supervisor at work, who incidentally used to be my friend, thinks I am being overly dramatic or exaggerating my symptoms. I can't tell you how much it hurts to be doubted or to have my condition belittled when I am in unbelievable pain. Please keep us updated so we can support you too! Take care, Liesel > > > Liesel, I too have been more of a lurker than reciprocating member.
