Guest guest
Hi Larry, Thank you for your kind words. I am so happy that I am experiencing more improvement every day, we struggle so hard with having to make decisions whether to undergo surgery or not, and so far I think i made the right decision. I truly get panic-stricken when I have surgery any more, have had so many, and had my share of problems. So far, all is well, thank you. Guest guest
Hello Arianne and welcome home! It's good to hear from you! I'm sorry this surgery was rougher on you than the last. You're a tough cookie, and I have no doubt you will throw yourself into recovery. And of course, your terrific sense of humor will help. How is your blood count? The reason I ask is that I was huffing and puffing -- but certainly not so much as to need oxygen -- after surgery. Since my pulmonary test pre-op was good, they tested my blood and found I needed a transfusion. Just a thought, and probably an off-base one at that. Get your rest and stay in touch when you are up to it. Warm regards, Donnaarianne377 <arianne377@...> wrote: Hi everyone. I am finally home. I was discharged from the inpatient hospital last Friday to the inpatient rehab upstairs. this was supposed to be for PT as I couldn't do the stairs on the Wednesday, and they forgot to get me a cane to try the stairs on Thursday, however, I was able to go up and down 2 stairs on Thursday. Also, my oxygen level would go down when I would do PT. My surgeon told me I could go home on Friday morning when I saw him, then within 1/2 hour, PT was in my room telling me I was going upstairs.I came home today only because I insisted. I was sent home with oxygen which I haven't used since I am home. In fact, I have been off oxygen since Monday morning when the PT forgot to turn it back on when we returned from PT. The night nurse, upon taking my oxygen level, told me I didn't need the oxygen and would I like her to remove it? Of course I said yes. It has done a job on my nostrils, making them extremely dry and scaly. All through this my doctor had given an ok for me to come home. When I called his office yesterday to tell him I would really like to go home, he was right in the hospital today to discharge me.This was not a good experience. Not like my other hip experience in August. I will tell you more when I am better able. I am very tired now because I didn't get to take a nap because we were busy entertaining the Oxygen guy.Arianne Everyone is raving about the all-new beta. Guest guest
My blood count was low after my last surgery as well, and they gave me 2 units of blood and sent me home. This time, the count was the same as last time, but no blood was given to me. They just sent me upstairs to rehab. Yes, there is a shortness of breath involved. My level would go down to 86 with strenuous PT, but when they reminded me to take several deep breaths, it would go up again. I haven't used the oxygen since I came home, and was off it for 2 days before they discharged me. It was prescribed on a as needed basis. Arianne > Hi everyone. I am finally home. Guest guest
Glad your blood count is normal now, Lindy. I am still on 650 mg of Iron a day, but my oxygen level is at 96%. That's the good news. Do you still get tired? I don't nap, but sleep about 10 hours at night. I find it hard to get to sleep and waken nearly every hour, then in the morning I can't wake up. Guest guest
my oxygen levels went up and down as well, arianne, the first couple days. i didn't even know what the alarm that kept going off was for -- then i figured it out and they told me to take slow, deep breathes, which helped. i had PT twice a day, each day (except the day of surgery of course) i was there. leanred the steps on my last night. used crutches for that and had to buy a pair to use here at home -- only steps are outside though, so don't climb steps every day, only if i'm going somewhere and it's a breeze. Hugs,Lindy LouRight THR 1/22/2007 Hi Susie, the only medication I'm on is the Tylenol PM I take before I go to bed at night. I take it to help me go to sleep. I didn't have a good night last night as I kept waking until 7 AM, when I fell into a sound sleep until 9:30 AM.I don't feel groggy today, but blah. lolArianne
Guest guest
I only took 1 oxycodone at bedtime when I was in the hospital. The doctor wrote me a prescription to take home, but I would rather not take it. To tell you the truth, the discomfort I have now is nothing like the never ending PAIN I had before both surgeries. Guest guest
Good to hear things are ok for now! You can totally do this for 9 weeks and when you're holding that little one in your arms, it'll have totally been worth it! Hang in there!
