Guest guest
That's not too bad... Don't starve yourself. The more frequent small meals you eat the better. Try snacking on mixed nuts and salads. If you feel the urge to eat something sweet, eat berries (very little impact on sugar) with some yogurt or cottage cheese. We had a severely gest. diabetic woman last year that could eat just about any fruit, as long as she ate it with a protein and walked for 15 min afterward. The key to this is keeping your blood sugar even, and under 140-150 or so. Keeping it even should make it easier to exercise. Also your a busy mom, try to check your sugars after vacuuming or sweeping. Any thing that gets you moving will burn glucose. I'm so glad to hear you're not on the insulin!!! Crystal RE: I'm home Thank you. I just checked 2 hours after I got done eating and my sugar was 167. 167 d/n sound good...but I'm hoping to balance it out tonight w/ a very low carb dinner since lunch was a sorta higher carb.. 4 carb instead of 3 but they had skipped my morning snack at the hospital (busy) and I was HUNGRY! Won't be ordering from swiss colony this Christmas... no need to REALLY torture myself!! My new matra: I can do this for 9 weeks! Nita, busy mom to: 14, Jon 13, 10, 8, 6, Christian (RIP: 7/16/03 to 8/22/04), 2 and Baby Boy due 2/08 I'm like a snapdragon: half of me has snapped and the other is draggin' No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
Glad to hear that! Yes, rest, it's the best thing! Thanks for the update. Guest guest
Thanks, Stuart & Nina! Took my bandage off this afternoon, and dealt with " crunchy " hair. They put some sort of sterilizing stuff in my hair, and now it's all stiff and has white flaky stuff sticking in it. Has anyone else experienced this? My surgeon says I can wash my hair if I hold a dry cloth to my ear & incision to keep them dry, but I don't have enough hands to do this so I made an appointment with my hairstylist to wash it tomorrow afternoon. I'll hold the dry cloth to my ear. Rhonda
Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, Welcome back ! Glad to hear that the surgery went well. Take it a little easy and if necessary, don't try to do too much too soon. : ) Dan > > I want to thank everyone for their good wishes! Surgery yesterday went > really well. Guest guest
Rhonda, Â I am glad you are recovering nicely and that you were a model patient. Â Take advantage of the pampering. Â Doesn't that feel gooooood to get that tight head wrap off? I remember feeling so much better after it was taken off. Guest guest
Thanks, Shari! I feel a little uneasy without the headwrap now. I don't have stitches or staples, just plastic covering the incision, which is making me nervous. I love the pampering though. Jackie ) Thanks, Jackie! If I can just get enough rest this first week I think I'll be ok. I've had problems sleeping in the recliner, so I finally crawled into bed this morning and slept on my right side and finally got some decent sleep. Guest guest
Hey, Rhonda, I couldn't sleep in the recliner, either, and never did for my ear surgeries. When I had my hysterectomy a few years back I had no choice and couldn't sleep for weeks in that darn thing. But, I will tell you, don't worry about the " plastic " glue on your incision. I had it all across my tummy and in lots of other places and it held tightly. It will eventually peel off and that's pretty cool! LOL Jackie ) **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? Guest guest
Welcome Home Gloria! I'm Teri, I came on while you were in the hospital. I had to ask who you were when we kept getting the updates so now I'm so glad to hear you are home! I was diagnosed in 2004 with about 25 years worth of damage to my liver which put me getting infected when I had my son and got 5 unites of untested blood. I went thru treatment in 2005-2006 for 48 weeks and have been SVR ever since. I still get real worried that something else can go wrong, and I can see with what you have gone thru that it still can. I'm glad you're home, I'm glad you're out of that hospital and in your own bed! Now get some sleep, that bed is going to feel great! Will talk to you soon! Fourteen days in a hospital is sure not my idea of any kind of fun. Then, early this afternoon, I had to put my foot down loudly and inform some of those folks that I was going home today and was not sitting around for anymore of their delays!! They were not happy; but, neither was I and it was time to let them know. I went in for that ablation on my liver, ended up having a resection a day later instead and then within a very short time, had to be rushed down to have a drainage tube inserted because my right lung was filling up. So, now needless to say, I am totally exhausted and going to sleep in my own bed for the first time in 2 weeks...Get back to you all later!!!Gloria ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ __
