Guest guest
The question was asked - what is the best way to clean empty bottles? Hi all - I am a new member so let me introduce myself first. My name is Ann and I'm blessed with 3 adult children, 4 completely awesome grandchildren a very supportive partner/husband. That being said, I am a (was actually) critical care RN, Certified Aromatherapist (through Jane Buckle's course for health professionals), and a manufacturer/retailer/wholesaler of paraben-free, natural & organic, (as possible) personal care products. I joined this group because of my love for essential oils, natural anything and trying to wean myself off of synthetic fragrances - very difficult for me. I hope to learn how to do that using natural fragrance because I am most definitely a fragrance junkie. I made candles in the past, so have over 100 very lovely bottles of fragrance in my lab but alas all synthetic. I've made some really nice blends using synthetics, but I realize I need to move beyond that. To answer the question - I use both glass bottles and plastic bottles and believe in recycling. The glass bottles are no problem just wash (preferably in dishwasher), dry and rinse out with isopropyl alcohol, turn upside down on a cloth and let it run out and evaporate from the bottle naturally. The plastic bottles, I'm not so sure about and am now pouring all of my carrier oils into large wine-type bottles and using vacuum pump type caps to seal them. So far it seems to be working nicely. I don't know why you couldn't reuse the plastic, but I worry now about toxins being transferred into the oil. Someone else may be able to expand on that issue. Thanks - good to meet all of you and looking forward to learning. I've, of course, made a lot of therapeutic type blends, that happen to smell nice as well, plus I play with my oils for myself all the time, have Mindy Green's book on Natural Perfumes, but other than that I have a lot to learn. Like Ann said, the best thing I have found to do is wash with dish soap (naturally scented, of course, at the risk of sounding very pretentious). I rinse any excess oils off first. Then I fill the sink with hot water (glass only) or lukewarm water (plastic caps and droppers -- hot water can open the pores in the plastic and I've found that it can drive a permanent scent into the caps). Let soak for 15 minutes or so, then wash with a soft bristle brush (sterilized toothbrush or mascara brush for small bottles). Then I rinse in rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, dry excess on outside, and place on a tray in the oven on VERY low heat (maybe 100 degrees). Watch carefully, and pull out when moisture is evaporated. For plastic -- cool to lukewarm water, towel drying and natural evaporation. I always reuse glass... plastic I am more wary of. I never store essential oils in plastic -- I've seen what many of them do to it! I reuse small plastic jars and bottles for shower soap and creams I've made -- things with low concentrations of volatile oils that won't be in the jars for a very long time. Anyway, good luck! Guest guest
There was a good thread a while back about cleaning. When you pull up message 9713 (Hi e, where you been hiding?!) just look at the posts in the thread. Guest guest
I agree that it was the only thing that worked for me. I used the clorox and salt water recipe and I no longer have the bird mites. I just have whatever it is they left me with on and in my skin. I have started taking the salt tablets and vitamin C that Frito recommended to me. I'll let you know how it goes. lou From: Singleton <baboig@...>Subject: cleaningbird mites Date: Thursday, August 14, 2008, 3:47 AM I'm starting to think one of the only ways to get rid of these things is to constantly clean like rita did. At the start of all of this(2 years ago) that's what I did but now my problem is somewhat controlled I clean about once a week but do laundry every single day(clothing is a major issue for me). How often do you clean and do you think constant cleaning and using products on yourself is the key to getting rid of these?

Guest guest
Crack or crevice, wall void, treat, my rule of thumb. Edges of wall, carpet, treat. Yard treat, foundation treat, basement. attic, treat. Under bathtub, treat. I never wiped down anything and got well. I was the host, in my opinion. I have stressed this so many times. You must make the environment hostile but also treat yourself as the host, not the environment. Morgellon will have you if you do not get well and strong. > > I'm in the middle of stripping my downstairs - and saying that I am overwhelmed is such an understatement... > > Can you all give me some advice? Guest guest
I agree - just lost right now. I'm kicking my own butt right now as well - as I can't sleep or eat... I'm giving them free reign. Can you tell me what you did to make yourself strong again? What cell salt did you use? I just ordered some of the PHenominon (?) water. Hope that wasn't a big waste of limited income... I tried oil pulling with sesame oil and threw up twice...lol I'll keep trying! There is just so much to think over, too much information, and way too much to do. I'm starting to fall apart. Thank you so much for your help Marie. > > > > I'm in the middle of stripping my downstairs - and saying that I am overwhelmed is such an understatement... > > > > Can you all give me some advice? Guest guest
Thank you - I really appreciate it. My poor husband has been put through the do with this. He works so hard along side of me - with six children there is a lot of work for us both. He has burned our mattresses, ripped out carpeting, sprayed the house, dogs and horses... you know - it's neverending. I have to keep reminding myself that he doesn't feel this. This thing doesn't bother him. I am truly blessed. I hear other women saying that their husband's think they are crazy...I thank God. I actually do have a good marriage - let's see if it can stay that way through this whole thing... =) Thank you Marie. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I'm in the middle of stripping my downstairs - and saying that I am overwhelmed is such an understatement... > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Can you all give me some advice? Guest guest
Hi les leeI got tested for lots of things, but the co-infections Dr. Metzger treated based on symptomatology only. The Lyme was found through blood sample, but so often these co-infections go along with the Lyme. It is so darn maddening. Sorry you don't have a doctor like her in IL. I found Dr. Metzger through the ILADS website. By the way, the Lyme Disease conference is set for Oct 15-17 and Dr. Metzger will be speaking too. Wish I could afford to go there to hear everyone speak. It is way out of the ballpark for me after a trip to Europe. Even some doctors do not test for Lyme by treat based on symptoms. I have a friend on another site who saw a doctor who did just that. He is in California too unfortunately, near Chico. Cleaning I'm in the middle of stripping my downstairs - and saying that I am overwhelmed is such an understatement...Can you all give me some advice? Do you wipe out your cupboards daily? Every surface - every room - every day? I want to do everything right - but I'm lost. Also - I still have empty dressers and chests in each bedroom - do you think I should remove them? Or do I need to move them every time I vacuum and mop? We have removed all of our carpeting, but between the floor (plywood) and the wall there are sometimes cracks or spaces... Guest guest
Is treatment for the co infections the same as the treatment for Lyme? I was wondering if there was something (anti-fungal, antibacterial, etc.) that might work for co infection treatment if I can't find a doctor who will test for them. > > Hi les lee > > I got tested for lots of things, but the co-infections Dr. Metzger treated based on symptomatology only. Guest guest
It was my belief when I had the mites or whatevers that they did not go into closets (like dish or pots and pan cupboards or even my linen closet). Wherever I got bites, I knew they were. They stick closer to us, so if near the bed at night, on floors, in the shower, in drains, on keyboard and mouse, in computer, on monitor, into cracks near bed, or walls, or linens on the beds, or anyplace we would hang out. We had them initially in our downstairs. After getting rid of carpets and most of our furniture we had emptied our house almost. We moved ou8r bed (purchased simple frame from Ikea) and set up an air mattress on the frame. We lived on that pretty much. We had a couple of chairs to sit on, that I kept taped up with plastic covers and a simple table which I sprayed daily since I got lots of bites there. Did not rid of bookcases or TV entertainment center. Covered some of bookcases with DE which caused respiratory problem. So I'd vacuum that up and mop with ammonia water which wrecked floors, but I didn't care at this point. I felt it was necessary to do a lot of praying during this time... I should keep it up, but sometimes forget. Cleaning I'm in the middle of stripping my downstairs - and saying that I am overwhelmed is such an understatement...Can you all give me some advice? Guest guest
Thanks - already praying many times a day. My hope is in Christ alone. > > It was my belief when I had the mites or whatevers that they did not go into closets (like dish or pots and pan cupboards or even my linen closet). Guest guest
Me too les lee. Mine has worked side by side and he was affected, but less than me. I am mightly grateful. I asked him to do some cleaning of air ducts today and drain the water heater for sludge and he's doing it, even though he works hard all week. I do too and I'm working constantly too. It is good to focus on all the positives. There are many. Re: Cleaning Thank you - I really appreciate it. My poor husband has been put through the do with this.
