Guest guest
Hello I am so sorry you are in so much pain!!! I too have scoliosis that I had surgery for 6x and I had a refusion because the S curve turned into a twisting kyphosis in my thoracic back. The refusion went well but now I have arachnoiditis from all the surgery. I do hope they try some pain intervention for you. Maybe a pump will help. If you are up for travel Dr. Vacarro at the Rothman Institute takes hard cases. He travels all over the world working and teaching. He is based in Philly. Hope you have a good weekend. I've been here in the past, but life got busy, and I was getting no where, so I took some time off. A quick refresher- I am 43 years old. I have Scheuermann's kyphosis. I had a 108' curve in my back before my surgery in 1989. I am fused T3-L2. I am one of the unfortunate ones whose curve has moved up her spine. I now have at least a 104' curve in my upper thorasic/cervical spine. I have seen Bridwell in late 2008, who told me he thought he could fix or at least help it. I was ready to do surgery, but then was found to be extremely anemic, so I canceled. I went to an ortho doc here (near Indianapolis). He is very hesitant to extend my fusion, because he in concerned that the curve will merely move up into the upper cervical area then. Meanwhile, I am left with a worsening curve, and lots of pain. I could have cried today, it hurt so bad in my neck and shoulders. I just don't know what to do anymore. I can barely wear my mock turtleneck sweaters because my neck juts out so much they choke me. Also, just exhausted from being in pain. I am a reading specialist and I love my job, but days like today are so hard. Thank you for listening. I know we are all in the same boat here. -- For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
