I wanted to update y'all on my life. I have been the victim of 12 years of

emotional and sometimes physical abuse. A week ago today it got so bad and I

was so desperate to get away that I took an overdose (26 Norco) to get away from

my husband. I have asked him to leave the house 4 times and he comes right back

within a few hours. If I try to leave he follows.

Naturally with the overdose I was put into a psychiatric ward for a few days.

When they spoke with my sister-in-law and she confirmed the issues of domestic

violence, they released me to my brother and sister-in-law on Friday. I have

moved into their house in another part of NC. When I went to the house to get

my things on Friday afternoon, I found that my laptop, PC, medical records,

personal files, corporation files, personal mail, debit cards, credit cards,

etc. were gone. Hubby claims they are with his attorney but I know he has no

money for an attorney because he just borrowed money from our pastor to pay the

electric bill, etc. He has them hidden somewhere. He claims he took my laptop

to get the display fixed. I had just changed the password to the BIOS, etc. the

day before I left. When I get it back I am taking it to an expert for a

complete inspection. I am sure hubby has copied everything on my hard drive to

use against me later in court. I filed for an order of protection on Friday but

the judge deemed I wasn't in immediate danger and therefore a hearing was

scheduled to grant the order of protection. We have to go back in a couple of

days for court, I need to train my replacement at the church, I need to turn in

my keys and count my drawer at the post office, and I need to get more of my

things out of the house.

I am so glad to be away from there. I had an interview yesterday at a large

church nearby as their secretary just quit. I am praying I will get the job and

start a new life.

Peggy, I am so sorry that you are dealing with such a terrible situation and am so thankful you have family to turn to for help. I hope and pray that you are able to get your things back and that you can break free from your abusive husband. Nobody should have to live in that type of situation. Please, don’t try and take your life again. While I cannot imagine the pain you are going through, please believe that many people love you and care about you and need you in their lives. Hang on and let others help you through this rough time. Best wishes,Jeanne From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of pticconi63@...Sent: Sunday, March 13, 2011 8:00 PM Subject: [ ] Moved I wanted to update y'all on my life. Peggy,

I am so sorry you are going through this. We are all here to help in whatever way we can. Please consider us your close circle of friends that you can call upon.

Please do not compromise your safety for " things " . They can all be replaced. What is yours will come back to you in the course of time.

I can well imagine this is all calling upon all of your inner resources. You are a strong capable woman and I know you will prevail. After the craziness of this time you will find the move, the upheaval, the challenges, will have all been worth it.

Hang in there.

Take Care, Cam

Hi Peggy,

Sorry to hear you are going through such a difficult time. But it

sounds like you are on the right track so, hopefully, you'll be in a

better place and mindset very soon.

Peggy,

I'm sorry to hear that you've gone through so much, but I'm happy that you're

with us and moving forward. I'd like to echo what said about posting too

many personal details in a public forum such as this. I was part of a large

support group here on for MS (over 2,000 members) and we had an incident

occur where a member had posted a lot of private information in order to vent

some of her problems. A member of her estranged family joined the group under

an assumed name, and he copied a lot of the emails and tried to use them against

her later. We ended up having to delete the group of and try to start

things over to save her privacy. So please be careful with what you post, as

you sadly never know who may be reading.

Also, if your husband has your computer, please be sure that you have changed

your passwords for every single online account that you can. My best friend's

husband does forensic computer work for criminal activities & corporate

espionage, and it is absolutely amazing to hear about the things that can be

pulled off of a computer's hard drive. I don't know how malicious he might be,

but it sounds like it might not be a smooth or easy transition for you. If you

can protect some of your online information and accounts, it will make life

easier for you.

Hang in there, and please know that you have so many people here that are

thinking of you and care about you! Things can be replaced, no matter how

challenging and upsetting it might be. You, however, can never be replaced!
