Guest guest
Nil OMT is Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy aka Manual Medicine. I have an appointment at the local medical school today. One of the docs who is also a professor works on me. CST is similar. Cranial Sacral Therapy. See _www.upledger.com_ (http://www.upledger.com) for more information. OMT and CST are similar, but not the same. Neither should be confused with therapeutic massage or chiropractic care. mjh Posted by: " Nil " _yildiz22@... _ (mailto:yildiz22@...?Subject= Re:%20Lyrica) _yildiz2113 _ (yildiz2113) Mon Jan 7, 2008 7:26 am (PST) Hi mjh What is omt and cst? thanks. Guest guest
KnightonND, Lyrica is not a narcotic. I don't know if it's time released. It's helpful with nerve pain if you have that type. I take other meds for my pain. I'd be happy to discuss those with you if you have further questions. ~Moonbeam ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Lyrica is not a pain medication per say, it is the new generation Neurontin. I worked on the clinical trials for the drug and is very effective controlling nerve pain (neuropathy) and Fibromyalgia. My Fibromyalgia patients receiving in in the Phase 3 research loved it. Lyrica ....Oops, more.. Does anyone know about Lyrica? ... My sister says that she has a second niece who is taking it for MRSA. My sister thinks that it's a pain killer. If it is, that would be why I feel so good. I stopped prednisone completely since the end of Feb. I'm kind of wondering if it might be because of the lyrica that I feel so good. Guest guest
Hi ya TK! Yes, I take Lyrica and yes, it will make you feel good. Be very careful though as it will put weight on you too. I gained over 40 pounds when I first began taking it. In a year's time I've managed to shed just a little over 20 pounds. I take this med for the neuropathy in my legs and it does wonders. I don't know if it would be classified as a " pain killer. " All I know is that it does help! Good to see you online. Take care. Much love, Terry **************Planning your summer road trip? Guest guest
220 is not overweight for 6' 1 " is it? I would have no idea, I haven't looked at one of those charts in years. Also, 40 pounds is a fair amount of weight but spread out over 10 years, it is a little less traumatizing, I would imagine. Are you saying that the Lyrica gave you a cloudy weird feeling in your head? I suppose we all have different reactions to medications. I know I took Tramadol years ago and I felt like I had taken 10 pain pills. I could barely walk. I said in my last post that I had pain in my chest and back but what I didn't mention that it was accompanied by intense burning. My first thought was RSD, but that doesn't make sense to me from the literature I've read (primarily online.) Also, it's onset was very quick...as in a couple days. I know that RSD can spread but I don't know at what rate it spreads and how I would go about finding out if that is the case in this situation. Can you get RSD in your chest? I am relatively certain that someone has told me that you can get it in your back. Is it realistic to consider RSD in this situation? Can it spread this quickly? If you have a lot of experience with this, please feel free to contact me personally. I would love to have a more in depth conversation about this! In a message dated 8/4/2008 2:26:29 P.M. Guest guest
Hey Everyone, I thought I would share..... At my last doctors appt. my doc told me that my blood sugar was too high. Not high enough for meds at this point (thanks the Lord) but a wake up call that I needed to get a grip. So, he suggested the South Beach Diet. I went to Walmart and pick up the book for $12.95 and it has change my life! I have been on 100 diets in my life but this one is GREAT!!! It is like " boot Camp " for the first two weeks. But I have been on the diet for only 7 days and I have lost 8 1/2 lbs.!! And this is with NO physical activity other than my daily routine. I couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scale. I am so picky about my food that I thought there is no way I will be able to do it. But it really wasn't that hard. Before you start the diet the doctor that wrote the book explains why other diets fail and why this diet is so good for you. Like I said the first two weeks are kind of tough but if I can do it anyone can. I just got back from Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire with my entire family, sisters, husbands cousins. And they all ate like " normal " lol people and I was fine with my salad and they all had ice cream and hot dogs. I can't believe I didn't crumble. I am telling you this because I have NOOOO willpower. But the book explains everything to you and you understand how to eat healthy. People who are diabetic and insulin dependent have gone on this diet and were able to come of insulin. I found that simply amazing. One more quick thing... You don't have to measure your food. You eat until you are full... what a concept.  Well, I just had to share because I am so pleased with my results. Have a good pain free day everyone.  Jill Boston Re: lyrica my mom is 5ft 3 my dad 6ft3 i got my tall side from my father mike group owner > > HEY MIKE!! > > YOU ARE TALL...THANK GOODNESS..YOUR WEIGHT GAIN WILL NOT SHOW AS MUCH AS IT > DOES ON A SHORTER PERSON.....LIKE ME...I AM " VERTICALLY CHALLENGED " LOL I AM > ONLY 5' 2 " .....BUT I HAVE A TALL HEART!! Guest guest
Sounds like a commercial LOL I am glad it works so well for you but I know I for one would not be happy eating a salad when everyone else was eating ice cream. Guest guest
Your pain is visible in your typing = ) I hope you feel better soon! Maybe it is the moon, I feel pretty awful tonight too. I tried spacing my meds out differently today and I think that was a mistake. It's a shame to try something new that doesn't work because then I am stuck waiting until tomorrow to go back to taking my meds the way I usually do. I was really hoping this new spacing would make the pain a lot less throughout the day but it didn't and I also didn't take my late dose at the same time and so the night is going to be rough. I think from now on I will stick to what I know. In a message dated 8/5/2008 9:50:58 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, KGAVI@... writes: HEY JILL!!! Guest guest
Ivan, You don't know me yet, my name is george. I saw your question about Lyrica, and thought I could give you some insite on it since I was put on it after my lumbar surgery last year. It's a really great med for pain, and aches in your legs, thats why I was put on it after surgery, I was hurting so bad in the hospital, it was like 10 times worst than RLS I mean really bad, but Lyrica took every bit of that pain away, BUT now you must know the side effects of this wonder drug, I will make your legs, feet, and hands swell up, and I mean almost double for me, I sure hated to have to get off of it because it did me so much good for pain, but just be warned that it has the potentual to really swell you up. I hope it info helps you, good luck, and wishing you painless days, geo Lyrica Howdee all,   Does anyone here take Lyrica for the pain of different spinal conditions? Doc gave me samples. I'm afraid of it. Also, the surgeon I saw at the University Hospital said he didn't want to operate on me at this time and to come back in a year. He did comment on how many different problems I had.. Also that he wouldn't operate for tingling and pain but for loss of function. I saw that he has been doing spinal disc replacements successfully for two years now. I'm happy with my choice of surgeons.  Ivan
Guest guest
Thank you . I'm glad it's working for you. How much did you start taking and how much do you take now. Most meds complicate my daily headaches or make me dizzy. I explained this to my Spine Doc and he gave me a bottle of 50 mgs. I'm tempted to take half at bedtime one evening when I know the next day can be wasted. God Bless.  ivan From: Lambert <glambert28@...> Subject: Re: Lyrica spinal problems Date: Saturday, August 23, 2008, 1:24 PM Ivan, You don't know me yet, my name is george. Guest guest
Well, I second the comments of Lambert...Lyrica is absolutely great!!!! but I, too, cannot take it cause it makes my ankles really really swell up with tiny pink rash on top of that....I simply cannot tolerate it for that same reason. Question Lambert.....have you found anything that " works " like Lyrica works?? No, pregabulin makes my ankles swell the same. I take hydrocodone and it gets me through the day, but big time pain if I travel much or do any physical types of things...very frustrating. I see where mass General, cleveland clinic, and Duke University tag this type of pain is their #1 biggest problem....they call it vexing...I call it hell. Guest guest
I have taken Lyrica for quite some time now. I started out slow and was actually up to taking 150mg three times a day. That was way too much. Now, I take 150 two times a day. It was orginally prescribed for my Fibromyalgia pain. It does seem to take the edge off. I continue taking it and was also prescribed the same medication by my Neurosurgeon after my last surgery. He said they have now found that it helps with muscle and nerve healing. I don't know about all of that. But, if does help take the edge of the Fibro pain.  Shayna  It is better to be hated for who you are than liked for who you aren't. Guest guest
I take 450 mg. of Lyrica a day for fibromyalgia. It helps with nerve pain for me and that is it. I have to take other meds for muscle and bone pain. Guest guest
, I take neurontin 600mg every 8 hrs, it was working great, but its starting to weaking now, doc says thats max dosage. I also take perks 10/325 every 6 hrs, with 20 mg oxy every 12 hrs, not so great now either. so he has me on cymbalta to enhance the combination. I will be seeing him tues to see if he will do somthing better, I would like to get of the perks and oxy because of the chance of liver damage concern. He said the next best thing was Lyrica. It's kinda got me between a rock and a brick wall. You are right about it being hell though, the pain monster will make you feel like you are going crazy s/times. He did say the last time I saw him that there were a few other avenues to take, I will let you know more after tues, I'm hoping for some good news. geo Lyrica Howdee all, Does anyone here take Lyrica for the pain of different spinal conditions?
