Guest guest
Anyone else experiencing a popping eardrum when swallowing? I had typanomastoidectomy July 23 of this year and the ear is beginning to pop a little when I swallow. Hope a back pressure isnt trying to form that will create a weak pocket on the new eardrum. You should be doing that 24 hours a day. Not just when eating and drinking. It is so automatic that people generally don't notice that they do it when not eating or drinking. Perhaps you mean that you feel something like a lump of food when you swallow? Achalasics sometimes feel that because of the food that stays in the esophagus. You are more likely to feel that after laying down or bending over. >It kinda hurts a little. I don't know why it would hurt. notan
Guest guest
: From time to time I do have trouble but to be honest, I didn't think it was unusual. I've always had that. Of course, then again, I'm the only one in my family with Still's. Didn't think of that until now. Coffee's ready, do you want? The point is, my dear, relax. The more tense you get the more stuff you're going to find that's wrong. However, if you relax, breathe a bit, you probably won't be as troubled by these things. Perhaps a call to the RD is in order if it upsets you that much. Take care and be well. Ellen
Guest guest
Hi , I too have trouble swallowing from time to time. My RA says it is part of the Still's thing. Mine doesn't last too long. With me, my aches and pains move around my body, as does my weakness. I personally think it's a muscle type weakness. Bring it up to your Dr next time you go...unless it's going to be a long time. If it's not too soon, maybe it'd be a good idea to make an appointment. by the way, I tried ice on my knees yesterday, just because I had them out trying to cool down...and they really worked! Pain didn't go completely away, but I could walk better! Hope you all have a happy Labor Day! in TX ---- Rickycat wrote: > Does anyone else have any problems swallowing? Guest guest
I do have trouble swallowing occasionally, but it's more because of the sore throat... it's funny, I don't get a rash, and the fevers have seemed to go away, but I still get the sore throat. I'll take it... better than some other symptoms!
Guest guest
Could be something related to secondary Sjogren's syndrome. That results in lowered ability to create saliva. If you notice extreme mouth dryness and the swallowing seems related to dry throat that could be the cause. One of those autoimmune related thingys that can crop up. I have that regularly now and take yet another pill for it. Also can cause eye ryness. So for that I regularly use Atrificial Tears. Guest guest
The only time I have problems is when my throat hurts. You know, from the typical still's sore throat that goes away the next day. Swallowing Does anyone else have any problems swallowing? Occasionally I'll try to swallow and my throat hitches up a few times. I talked with my Mom about it, because she's a speech pathologist, and she mentioned it could be Still's related. -- -

Guest guest
Yep! That would be me! I have had issues since my second surgery. Have you had any surgeries? I had a swollowing test done. You should ask for one too. My test found that my airway is now smaller due to the hardware I have implanted. So, I just have to drink a lot of water and I can never eat anything without having something to drink with me at all times. I have choked many many times! It's pretty scary actually. I have C2 - C7 fused... From: Teddyberen@... <Teddyberen@...> Subject: Swallowing neck pain Date: Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 5:50 PM Has anyone had any trouble swallowing when pain in neck is severe? The WBC count is only a very small amount low - not enough for the Dr. to even comment on. Sorry, I didn't track my RBC, just the HGB.Definitely ask your Dr. what your iron levels are BEFORE even thinking about taking any extra!!Gloria Hi Teri, thanks!with both the WBC & RBC getting knocked so low this could cause problems. Iron might be good especially since I htink all the blood I give and loosing blood going to the bathroom my iron must be very low. I just assume that the iron connected to the blood.my WBC is 3.44, and RBC is 4.1 this is still good right? Thanks,ny
Guest guest
I have had the same thing happen from time to time. I my case it is not do to a herniated disc. I also have uncontrollable coughing that happens more often. Sometimes while swallowing but not always related to eating. But here is something interesting I discovered...during my massage therapy the therapist can reproduce my coughing " attacks " . We believe it to be yet another imbalance of my muscles. Will be interested to see if others have had the same experience.
