Adult onset asthma???

I am very curious to ask if many of us developed adult onset asthma or have been

asthmatic all of our lives. Personally, I have recent adult onset asthma.

Generally, when using my inhalers I use them by inhaling them directly

from the tube into my mouth. I use a chamber on the Qvar that inhale

morning and night and very rarely on the Albuterol. At one time I was

using Pulmicort, which always irritated my throat making me chain cough

all the time.

I brought this irritation problem to my allergist who recommened that I

drink a lot of water 64 oz at a minimum, wash my mouth out after using

the inhalers, expecially the Pulmicort and Foradil which I take at the

same time, and use a chamber every time I use an inhaler. I found that

after using the chamber and rinsing out my mouth after using the

inhalers the coughing and throat irritation gradually went away after a

few days. You might give this a try also.

Sorry to hear about you getting worse. But maybe you get worse before

you get better.

That happens to me until the body gets used to the new medication.

I got through the asthma flare up with albuterol and atrovent without

alot of problems; then the coughing started. It keeps going and going

and going.......It really stinks because I'm not allowed to cough.

Coughing and steroids has damaged my trachea so that it collapses when

I exhale. My drs have me on tussalon pearls, lidocane in my nebulizer,

and they added hycodan yesterday afternoon. I'm still coughing! My dr

went so far as to mention trying the evil candy- until I remined him

that was what caused the problem in the first place. It's really

weird ... there is no wheezing,infection or rattles in my lungs, all

of the s.o.b. and discomfort is in the trach. It's too bad Xolair

doesn't work on that too. This isn't my idea of how to start the new
