Guest guest
Hi All I have been on Xolair on and off for about 18 months - without much success, but I will be persisting as it is better than relying on prednisone. I have had a couple of stops and starts over this time though. The gaps were caused by severe ER visits which curtailed any further participation somewhat, including having a really bad one whilst having the Xolair administered. I have suffered badly with the itchy rashes for most of the period I have been on the treatment and tried everything to relieve the itching - the hospital also tried a range of options. Although this might sound simplistic the only relief I have received was by using Calamine Lotion - made me look very white but it works - takes the sting out of the little lumps and helps with the scratching. I had sunk to the stage where I was wearing gloves at night to stop the scratching. Hope this might help someone else experiencing the Xolair scratch. Guest guest
I've been surprised that so many folks have posted that they are having itchy rashes either since starting Xolair or coincidental to their injections. I am three weeks late getting my Xolair due to a bureaucratic snafu with getting reapproved with insurance. My next dose arrives tomorrow, thank goodness. Funny thing is, I am itchy WITHOUT my Xolair - my allergic eczema is coming back. I didn't have any problems with it when I was taking all that pred prior to Xolair (pred needed to make my lungs work). Now without pred and Xolair my sinuses have started up, my eczema's back, and my reflux is back thanks to the mucus in my sinuses. Worse than that, I am SO TIRED from my allergic fatigue. I LOVE XOLAIR. Guest guest
I finally received word from my xolair doctor about the warnings that are being considered for xolair. He is having a meeting for all of his xolair patients and I cannot go to either meeting! But my husband is going for me. The doctor presently has 80 xolair patients and none of them have had an anaphylactic reaction. One had a bump on her arm but that went away after a few days. I don't think he mentioned rashes either, although JoAnn could probably speak to that. He was also very interested in this forum and the responses to xolair as his clinic is also a research clinic for xolair and other asthma and diabetic meds. I guess we will find out if we have to wait two hours in his office. I'll just take a good book, my husband can do his walks, or I'll take some needlework to do. That will really ruin a morning. I can understand the concern for those of you who get the shots twice a month--that's a lot of hours in the doctors office that could be used in some other more meaningful way. But then I guess it is always better to err on the side of caution????? Have a great weekend--breathe easy-- Adah pyle456 <coachmac@...> wrote: I've been surprised that so many folks have posted that they are having itchy rashes either since starting Xolair or coincidental to their injections. Guest guest
My hemmorhoids have been itching since starting on Xolair and I fear that sitting in the Doctor's office for two hours is going to cause a lot of discomfort. I wonder if the FDA might grant an exemption from their new regs for people who find sitting too long to be a pain in the butt. > > > > Hi All > > > > I have been on Xolair on and off for about 18 months - without much > success, but I will be persisting as it is better than relying on > prednisone. > > > > I have had a couple of stops and starts over this time though. Guest guest
Dear Jo Ann: My husband did not make the xolair meeting, but maybe you could write me a little bit about it and what was said. That would be helpful. Thanks. Otherwise I'll see you in a week for my next shot. Guest guest
Dear group members, I am wondering if I should stop taking xolair. I have been getting total body itchiness which I have never had prior to xolair, sinusitus like I have never had prior to taking xolair and am beginning to wonder if these are side-effects of xolair. This tends to happen when I gert delayed taking my xolair and am wondering if it is a rebound effect of taking the xolair, in between shots, particularly if I am delayed. I have never had any eczema type rash or itching prior to taking xolair and although I have had sinus problems, this one is a doozy. so much so that I am beginning to wonder if this is a rebound from xolair. wondering if I should stop for a while and see if I am ok from these. any thoughts? somewhat concerned that if I get off it, my asthma will come back, and that it may be difficult to convince my insurance co to pay for it again. would love your input on it.' Most people who have experienced this usually find it is another source causing the itching. Also, coming off Prednisone causes this and with time it will go away. Again, follow your doctors advice!
