Guest guest
My husband has asthma and uses a c-pap machine. He adjusted quite quickly and w/his current machine has the humidifier and heater - he says they help. He has the nasal pads. However, when he has a cold or allergy flare or even a bad asthma attack it's impossible to use a pcap. I'm hoping he will get another study done soon and maybe get the bi-pap that will do more of the breathing (both in and out) for him. He also has MS. His neurologist told us that MS is like one giant super big allergy so I've often wondered if there really is some sort of connection. In some ways, maybe men find it easier to adjust to the machines but I might be overgeneralizing. When I " started " an overnight sleep study and was gasping for air and coughing it became impossible and I left at 1:00 am w/o going to sleep. They had me try different masks and nasal pads - I found the mask more tolerable than the nasal pads - they said that was more typical of women. However they didn't have any ice, the headboard was dusty and the staff insensitive to my needs. Men and women were using the same restroom and in the halls together and I wasn't prepared for that. Speaking of holding one's breath at night - yes, I know I do it at least at times. I assumed everyone did! I have asthma (dream I'm under water holding my breath trying to get to the surface) and found out in recent years that the sense of " drowning " is typical of asthmatics. That's my two cents for tonight! --------------------------------- It's here! Your new message! Get new email alerts with the free Toolbar.
