Guest guest
I went to see my new respirologist today (yeah!) and she concurs with the allergist/immunologist that Xolair is not working for me (not-yeah!) I've been on it for 14months with no noticeable improvement. I have low IGE and only receive 1 vial per month. When my current script runs out in May of this year, it is over. Pretty much all of my asthma exacerbations start with chest infections/colds...which my two school- age daughters are only too happy to share with me! I'm feeling very sad about this, but at the same time, if I am one of the percentage that Xolair doesn't help, than so be it. I guess the good that is coming out of this is that I am now getting a complete workup: CT scan of lungs to test for bronchiectasis (sp?); sleep study for sleep apnea; massive bloodwork for IGG deficiency. I am taking medicines from pretty much every family of asthma drugs out there...including the nasty evil candy, and I don't seem to be getting any better. I thank this wonderful group for introducing me to some amazing people...especially (who I hope is going to be spending some time with me and my pool this summer!!!!) Pamela P.S. I still want to be a part of this wonderful group because being a severe-asthmatic, there is so much to learn from everyone here!
Guest guest
Pamela, I also have low IgE and started on 150 per month. It seemed to work every once in a while but not consistently. Then after about 1 year it began working pretty consistently but only for 2 weeks. My doctor contacted Genentech and they suggested doing a 75mg booster 1/2 way through the month and it's been pretty much smooth sailing since then. Perhaps this is an option for you? pjboucher2001 <pjboucher2001@...> wrote: I went to see my new respirologist today (yeah!) and she concurs with the allergist/immunologist that Xolair is not working for me (not-yeah!) Guest guest
Hi I have suggested an increase to both my allergist/immunologist and also to the respirologist. Neither of them was willing to go this route, and I don't want to go above them to Genetech and try to get my Xolair increased. Guest guest
It doesn't surprise me that your doc's won't go above the recommended dose. I guess I'm just very lucky. pjboucher2001 <pjboucher2001@...> wrote: Hi I have suggested an increase to both my allergist/immunologist and also to the respirologist.
