Guest guest
Finally, I am scheduled to have an RN at my home this Fri. am for my first Xolair injection. My doctor and I agreed to this in mid January; plus five weeks ago I received the Xolair and it's been sitting in my fridge ever since. I've heard every bit of you-know-what from all kinds of nurses and sales men from CuraScript and their subcontractors as well as Genentech giving me a hassle. I'm really turned off to Xolair now as the struggle has been so exhausting and disgusting. My pulmo wanted me to self inject from the beginning - with a nurse at my house to show me how. Long ago she prescribed the epi pen. Actually, I could do it myself and finally said I would just sit in the hallway outside the doctor's office and inject next week if all else failed. That was no joke. I would do it. I'm so upset about the hassle and feeling insecure about the nurse that I hope that doesn't cause a bad reaction. I could use some relief - both from the nasty CuraScript and Genentech as well as the devastating allergies and asthma. Trying to figure out which is worse right now but am opting for Xolair shot. Thanks, Pat, for explaining how shaking or dissolving the powder too fast breaks down the protein that is the protective medication. I didn't realize that and will be very diligent myself as well as keeping an eye on the nurse during preparation and injection. Your info might very well be saving me some grief! The info I found on a nurses training website for Xolair did not go into that much info so I'm a bit concerned about getting messed up by a nurse - know more now and knowledge is power! --------------------------------- Be a PS3 game guru.
