IgE Levels and Xolair

Hi everyone!

Is there a maximum IgE level for the use of Xolair? In other words,

would I be precluded from being prescribed the medicine because my IgE

levels are too elevated? My highest IgE level has been over 45,000, but

hovers between 10,000 and 12,000. I have asthma and severe atopic

dermatitis. I've been on immunosuppresants (for the skin, and several

Rx's for asthma (without much success), so I returned to the " old

standy-by " and am currently just on Prednisone: 40mg. a day. However, I

still must use my albuterol numerous times (day & night).

I have an appointment in March to see my Allergist/Immunololgist and

want to be armed with as much information as possible. Thank you!

If you search our messages for the word " formula " you will find a

formula that joannana posted for determining Xolair dosage for

patients with really high IgE. She is a Xolair nurse in an

allergy/asthma practice.
