Guest guest Posted October 27, 2005 Report Share Posted October 27, 2005 For those of you who dont know me yet, I thought I would tell you a quick little bit about myself. I’d like to start off by saying that if you spoke to me about this entire topic or lifestyle back in 2001 or before, I would have laughed about the entire concept and told you that it was un-necessary. Not because I didn’t need a complete health makeover, but because I thought I was doing everything I could already, to live a healthier life. I ate “well balanced meals” even organic once in a while, tried to exercise a couple of times a week, I took supplements, and I tried to follow my Physicians instructions with regards to my health issues. Sure I ate “bad” foods from time to time, but they were not the majority of my diet. And sure I used to go out and “live it up” from time to time with my friends, but it was not a part of my everyday life either. And yet I really wasn’t thriving. Some might say this was due to the fact that I was now over 40 and I should get used to the idea that the body just doesn’t perform as well as we age. Well to that I say BALONEY! Fortunately for me, my DH came into my life and although I went kicking a screaming with each change he suggested, I have in fact been changed. I was highly dependent on medications to keep me going, for allergies, for breathing, for thyroid, and just before I kicked them all, I was going to have to add med’s for blood sugar. Now, I no longer take any pharmaceutical drugs, either over the counter or prescription, and that includes those for my thyroid that were so called, critical to my life! I know that not everyone will reap as much benefit in their lives as I did, but i still tell everyone i know about the benefits of getting back to basics and that each change we make, can only help extend or improve the life we have left to live. Since i found out about the boards, drastic changes and great healing have taken place in my life. I continue to read and learn about herbs and foods as medicine and life and use them in my everyday life. I am not a raw-foodie or a vegitarian/vegan but i do eat many raw foods and several vegan meals per week; so you may hear me talk about meat once in a great while if it is important to a thread. I hope to take an Herbalist course soon to get certified and have more than personal experience to share. I may not always be on-line as i my work keeps me quite busy, but I will try to pop in as often as possible to help out with questions. On a personal note, I like to do ceramic work when i have time, beading, gardening and of course food prep and herbs I look forward to helping and talking with you all.
