Hello Everyone,

My crock arrived yesterday, and I just closed the lid on my first batch

of sauerkraut. Check back in 4-6 weeks and I'll tell you how it turned

out! I am not a patient person ...

I made a pretty typical recipe, and followed some of 's

suggestions to add a dozen juniper berries and an apple. The rest of

it was green cabbage and 2 carrots (shredded). I also added dill weed

and caraway seeds. The cabbage must have been dry, because it took

nearly 2 litres of salt water to cover the weight stones with the

recommended amount of liquid.

If anybody is in east Texas, I'd be happy to have a taste testing party

when the kraut is ready!
