Guest guest
Yeah, I used to have the problem a lot. Nuts and seeds really DO keep better in the freezer. Otherwise they get rancid. But if they end up tasting like eeecch anyway, what's the point? To solve it: First, I got the " Freezer " bags from Costco. They are much heavier than the usual plastic bags. EVERYTHING goes into a bag or a *heavy* plastic freezer container. Some people use glass jars, but they would not survive my family. Second: I stopped storing things like cooked food in the freezer. The " Freezer taste " turns out to be mainly garlic and onions, esp. in cooked foods. Raw meat, or fruit, or nuts, just don't smell up the freezer. I do store cooked bacon and broth, but I don't use onions in my meat broth (add them later when I make soup). Third: We have multiple freezers. So fruit and nuts actually have their own box. That isn't as important as the other two steps though. On Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 10:57 PM, Guru K <greatyoga@...> wrote: > My wife insists on putting nuts, seeds and some other things in the > freezer.
