whey fermentation and dairy allergies?

Greetings,

I've just discovered this site, and appreciate all it has to offer.

Kombucha and kefir, I've been making for some time now, but I'm very

new to fermenting things like grains and veggies. I use whey in this

process.

I've got an autistic grandchild, who's experienced many benefits from

fermented coconut water -- made with Body Ecology starter. She loves

veggies, and I'd like to introduce her to fermented veggies. I have

lots of whey available to me from the kefir process, and would prefer

to use that vs purchased starter.

My question is, if she has serious dairy allergies, would whey cause a

reaction? If there's anyone here with experience in this area, I'd

greatly appreciate your input.
