Guest guest
I've been on Xolair for about a year and a half. At first, it seemed to help me, but I've been on 3 rounds undoubtedly require steroids. My IGE was 55 but I have always had bad allergies. I am on highest doses of every possible asthma medicine except oral steroids. I'm so sick of getting sick with asthma. I will ask my allergist about increasing Xolair or at least taking it more frequently. Do you think that's a reasonable request? Are there any studies that would back up raising the dose? I use 150 every month.
Guest guest
You may have a difficult time getting a higher dose approved by your insurance but you should at least talk to your doctor about it and try. Your case sounds very similar to mine. I was on the highest dose of many asthma meds, except pred., and my IgE is only 44. I started on 150 per month and it felt as though it was helping but it would only last 2 weeks. My doc called Genentech and they recommended I take 150 for 2 weeks and then 75 for 2 weeks and keep repeating. Outside of a nasty episode I had earlier this month ( I think it was the wildly unusual weather that caused it) that dose of Xolair has been the silver bullet. I feel very good during the winter and like a million bucks during the summer on this dose. Talk to your doctor about it and see where it goes. royalashtonvp <royalashtonvp@...> wrote: I've been on Xolair for about a year and a half. Guest guest
I am also in the same boat!!! I forget my IGE, but it is in the 50's as well. I have been on Xolair for exactly 1 year and also on maximum of every possible asthma medication. I am just coming off of prednisone (started this round November 1/06) and alternating 7.5mg/5mg daily. I was also on prednisone 3 other times in 2006. I asked my dr. about increasing, but in response, she tried to decline my Xolair! I am interested in seeing what your dr. says. I do have an appointment in March/07 to see a new respirologist and maybe I will be able to get my Xolair increased by her. Pamela > > I've been on Xolair for about a year and a half. Guest guest
Could you please email me privately as to how you were able to wean off of prednisone> How long has the weaning taken? What was your highest dose? Did you take one or two doses daily? I have cushings from prenisone and it is not at all pretty nor a good situation. I was on 20 mg. per day then I took myself to 19 for 10 days and now am on 9 mg in the mornings followed by 9 mg in the afternoons. Any help will be appreciated very much. Thank you, Leigh ________________________________ From: pjboucher2001 <pjboucher2001@...> Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 1:50:29 PM Subject: [ ] Re: increase in xolair? I am also in the same boat!!!
