Guest guest
I know this probably makes me sound pretty dumb, but.......I was at a friend's house the night before Thanksgiving while they were getting some food ready for the community dinner the next day. We decided to try lactofermenting the greens from the freshly picked brussel spouts and I stuffed mine in a jar and weighted them down with another jar and a cast iron fry pan. My kitchen is quite cold so in was in no hurry to think they were finished. About 5 days later I dug in and decided a few more days would be good. I put another jar inside and it was the WRONG ONE. Now it is stuck and I'm wondering if anyone has done this and successfully removed it. I remember when I put it in, it seemed to be a little snug, but I was in a hurry to get to work. Any ideas? It wiggles a bit, but I'm hoping to get it out without breaking it! Like I said, DUMB! Thanks, Kate
Guest guest
Put the bottom one in warm and warmer water. At the same time, try to chill the top, stuck jar. You didn't say, but I'll assume that the top, stuck jar is upright, so fill it with ice, then cold water. This should make the inside jar ever so slightly shrink, and the heat (slowly now, don't want to crack it) should make the bottom one expand, ever so slowly expand. That's the way I get 2 expensive glasses to unstick. Of course, I'll admit that sometimes I have to throw them away because It doesn't work, but if it's the only alternative, then give it a try.
