Guest guest
I can attest to the sleepiness! When I get my shots I feel on verge of exhaustion for about a week! It took me a while to figure out what was going on. I work two jobs so ,at first, I thought it was that was the problem. I don't know about anybody else but it took several months before I noticed a difference in my asthma after starting treatment with Xolair. I have been doing great but this spring has been a little tough with all the pollen. I am not having the sneezing and watering eyes but I am wheezing a bit more than I had been since I started Xolair. But this is a tough time with everything colored with the yellow/green pollen here in the south! I have not always been exactly 4 weeks between my shots. I have been off by a few days to 2 weeks when my company switched insurance. It didn't seem to be a big deal. Good luck! Guest guest
I've been on Xolair since September of '05. Here's what I have to say: I personally have not had any issues with anaphylaxis. I have always had very sensitive allergies to many things, and *have* had anaphylactic reactions before to various combinations of things. I also tend to have delayed reactions (about 2-4 hours in some instances). I noticed a significant change in how I was feeling within about a week (peak serum levels are 7-8 days post-injection). After about 3 months, and every three months subsequent, my pulmonologist has reduced the amount of other medication I have to take to manage my asthma. I went from being a persistent severe asthmatic constantly on prednisone (60+ mg) and antibiotics (on top of the albuterol MDI and nebs, Advair 500/50, singulair, claritin every day, the list goes on and on...) to taking a puff from a 220 mg Asmanex inhaler every night. That's it. The neb has been sitting in the closet collecting dust for over a year now, even when I get colds. What they report is an average based on several studies (from what I understand), but it's different for everyone. Never heard about the 3 day thing...my doc will let me go up to a week if I have to (vacation, etc), but now that I'm giving the injections myself, that shouldn't happen as much. Have noticed a return of symptoms after more than 3 weeks have gone by (don't ask...insurance fubar...BAD). Haven't had any issues with sleepiness. drugs affect people in different ways though, so it doesn't surprise me! I fall asleep after an albuterol neb when I'm sick!!
