Guest guest
There are A LOT of people with other illnesses/conditions that are on Xolair. Two weeks a go I went to a conference with over 200 other Xolair patients and you would not believe some of the stories I have heard. I met a young woman who has no immune system and another one who cant take prednisone, because it just doesn't work for her. The first thing I would suggest is that you talk to your doctor.Communication is the biggest thing that helps this situation. I met to many people who have a hard time communicating with thier doctors. Have your doctor get yor blood checked to see what your IgE levels are, if you haven't already. One of the nurses in here said that if the level is above 30, you just might be a canditate for it! My doctor, who is a pulmonologist told me that it was 114 or higher. Good luck!! Please keep us all posted on how you do! --- Maxine <motherswithangels@...> wrote: > After reading the qualifications and exceptions in > the Xolair clinical > trials, it looks like I may not qualify. Guest guest
Maxine, You do NOT have to be in a study to get Xolair. Your FEV1 should be less than 80% but any Doctor worth his salt can make a good arguement that Prednisone every month does more damage than it is worth and you should be given a 6 month trial on Xolair at least, I'd push for 1 year. You have been intubated in the past and this is something very important. You are in the group that should have Xolair with no questions. If the Ins. Co. denies Xolair for you, I can give you some key phrases to write to the Ins. CO. as an appeal. I'll help your Physician also if he/she needs it.
