I'm coming up on my third anniversary on Xolair this summer.

Before Xolair, I was on 30mg of the evil candy and could not get below

20mg and function outside. I was allergic to everything - dust, mold,

trees, grasses, flowers, anything with fur (even sea mammals!)... for

every season, I had multiple allergies. My doctor was considering

nighttime oxygen because my O2 sats were plunging terribly low despite

my CPAP machine. I was a real mess.

I had tried every medication available. Leukotriene inhibitors

provided some relief, but not enough. Nothing was working at all.

Then came Xolair. For the first time in my life, I experienced a

medication that actually worked on my allergies. I got better. I could

visit friend's houses and not have to leave after ten minutes because

of their cats. I could actually walk outside in the spring without

using my rescue inhaler. For the first time in my entire life, I found

myself going entire weeks without using a rescue inhaler at all!

Today I did something I never thought I'd ever be able to do. It seems

so utterly mundane that most people would never think twice about it,

but it was important to me.

For the first time in my life, I mowed the lawn! I'm fine, absolutely

fine!

(My eyes aren't watering because of allergies - I'm actually crying -

over mowing the lawn!)

Thanks Genentech!
