Guest guest
You can ferment without salt. Sandor talks about this. But if you use a good quality sea salt there is no harm and the quantity used is actually quite small. Also, adding whey can reduce the amount of salt needed even further. Guest guest
I have used BE starter culture for kraut and kefir. I use salt now but if I were to feed kraut to an animal I'd use BE starter culture. I was feeding some of my kraut to my parrot to cure a bacterial infection. Parrots cannot have salt. The kraut did cure his infection. Kathleen " Cultured Vegetable Starter " Hi, friends. My first post.
