Guest guest
According to Conrad LeBleau's book, 'Natural Remedies for Intestinal Health', raw rolled oats (uncooked) contains Beta Glucan. One tablespoon is equivalent to a capsule. Beta Glucan is very expensive, so I eat raw rolled oats. I love it and crave it. When I'm hungry and don't have time to eat, I eat a TBS or more and am satisfied. I have been glad to hear all the responses that have come in so far. But what I was thinking has been running on different lines. I used to have a lot of trouble with all the cavities around my ears. I found out that such places like those cavities and the middle ear have more to do with the lymph system than the blood stream. (Am I right about this?) I was also told that there might be a connection between such symptoms and systemic candida. I used a substance called " beta glucan " , a derivitive of brewers yeast. This stimulates the macrophages to work cleaning up debris and foreign organisms in both blood and lymph . I have most recently been using a similar substance called " whole glucan particle " which I think does a better job. When I first started using the beta blucan, I took it every day. Now I only take the other when I feel that congested feeling around my ears. The other thing I wanted to say. When my daughter was a baby, she started getting ear infections. After the first bout, we eliminated all refined sugar and other similar sweeteners from our family's diet. She never had any more problems. My son, two years younger, has never had ear infection problems. These comments may be of a more long term solution than you were looking for. I hope that you have received something helpful from all these replies, Ellis Hein Ear Ache Can someone please post an ear ache remedy? Thank you! Guest guest
Kathleen, Do you know if fermenting the rolled oats does anything to the beta glucan? We often ferment our oats and eat them that way. Ellis Ear Ache Can someone please post an ear ache remedy? Thank you!
Guest guest
Hi Ellis, I don't know. One tablespoon is such a small amount that I would just eat that in addition to the fermented oats. The raw (dry) rolled oats can be added to yogurt. Cooking does destroy the beta glucan. Once I start eating it, plain, I crave to continue eating it - so I figure that it must be something that I need and maybe it's more than just beta glucan that is beneficial. I have the same experience with lentils - can't stop eating them once I start, and we all know how beneficial those are. Guest guest
But do remember that most rolled oats are not truly " raw " . Oat groats are " stabilized " with heat to prevent the fatty acids from going rancid. Then they are steamed before rolling. It is very hard to buy truly " raw " oats and they would be refrigerated at all times to prevent rancidity. Therefore, if store bought rolled oats contain beta glucan, then it should not matter if they are cooked after or not as they were not " raw " to begin with. Does my logic make sense? Guest guest
What about phytates? How did u feed rolled oats and avoid phytates? I have birds and a surplus rolled oats. I've fed birds with loose bowels oat groats and it works. It seems to have a different more absorbent type of fiber than other grains. Thanks, eco > I eat cooked and raw oatmeal, just to cover all my bases. For nearly 2 years I fed uncooked rolled oats daily to my sick and dying parrot. He lived for alot longer than the other infected parrots that came from his breeder. I also did EFT on him (energy work).
