Guest guest
Hi Me: Does this mean that drinking Coke suppresses the immune system? If so, what about other caramel coloured sodas like Pepsi? Thanks, Joyce

That's what I understand, although I don't know the quantity of this substance in the average bottle or if there are cumulative effects. Other companies like Pepsi must pay royalties to Coca Cola to use this chemical. Me.

Guest guest
Can someone explain to me some of the symptoms of a suppressed immune system? I drink " brown " soday ALL the time. And are you saying it could be bad for people with autoimmune problems? --kathleen In a message dated Sun, 14 May 2000 7:45:26 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Lori Fish <angelfsh@...> writes: << Sugar suppresses the immune system for 6 hours. Guest guest
> Can someone explain to me some of the symptoms of a suppressed immune system? I drink " brown " soday ALL the time. And are you saying it could be bad for people with autoimmune problems? Well, basically your immune system is what protects you from diseases and pathogens like bacteria, viruses, etc. It consists of the white blood cells, lymphatic system, and other parts of the body that detect and remove invaders. Many common diseases like the cold virus are called 'opportunistic pathogens'. What that means is that these pathogens are always present in the atmosphere, and most of the time your body is able to deal with them. However, if the body becomes depressed from stress, poor diet, not taking care of yourself, or whatever, then these diseases can get a foothold. People who acquire AIDs (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) don't die from AIDS but from some other disease that their body is no longer able to fight. When it comes right down to it, the only person who can heal you, in any way, from anything, is you. Doctors and medicines can aid and can provide things that will help your body fight infection, but you are the one who does it. If, as I have been told, the chemical in 'brown' soft drinks suppresses the immune system, then it would make your body more susceptible to infection. Hope that helps... Guest guest
Actually, it does contain phosphoric acid and I did try it in the toilet bowl thing.... I probably didn't let it sit long enough but it did remove half my ring!!....And I do use it (like my grandma did) when making meatloaf and it does come out moist and sweet ;-) > > > > > Actually all that stuff about coke is fake: > > > > http://www.snopes2.com/cokelore/acid.htm > > > > You can even look it up at http://urbanlegends.about.com, but it'll lead you > > to the same page (above). > > > > > > > > > > COKE > > > > > > > > No wonder coke tastes soooo good: > > > > > > > > 1. Guest guest
Funny you mention that. I had not had a coke or carbonated drink in 2 years coz I always had trouble. Guest guest
I have had a man made material used to replace my E and as with A there are no ripples to help the food go down so there for i use the bubbles in the coke to help the food go down. Guest guest
I just read this article (http://news./s/yblog_thelookout/20110215/ts_yblog_thelookout/did-nprs-\ this-american-life-discover-cokes-secret-formula) about finding what some people think is the original Coke formula. Here is the recipe: The recipe: Fluid extract of Coca: 3 drams USP Citric acid: 3 oz Caffeine: 1 oz Sugar: 30 (unclear quantity) Water: 2.5 gal Lime juice: 2 pints, 1 quart Vanilla: 1 oz Caramel: 1.5 oz or more for color The secret 7X flavor (use 2 oz of flavor to 5 gals syrup): Alcohol: 8 oz Orange oil: 20 drops Lemon oil: 30 drops Nutmeg oil: 10 drops Coriander: 5 drops Neroli: 10 drops Cinnamon: 10 drops I do not like the taste of Coke and think it has unhealthy ingredients like white sugar. However, it looks like a good recipe and would like to make it with organic sugar and caramel color, which seems to be used only for color. My question is what do people think 30 for sugar is? Ounces? What happens when all the ingedients are mixed together? Is it fermented and for how long? It does not have yeast so it would not seem to be fermented. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, GB

They said that when they made this recipe that the result was terrible. Guest guest
I think some of the original soft drinks were sold as " syrups " ... they were sold at soda fountains, where the " fizz " was dispensed at the time they were sold. Kind of like a Torani syrup today. Here is one recipe: Old-Time Orange Phosphate RecipeThis drink is so universally dispensed that a formula for it is hardly necessary here, but it might be mentioned that a little orange syrup in a mineral-water glass, a little acid phosphate squirted into it, carbonated water from the coarse stream enough to nearly fill the glass, and cracked ice or not, as the occasion or the drinker may require, the whole well stirred with a spoon, constitutes this most popular, perhaps, of all orange drinks. http://www.homemade-dessert-recipes.com/soda-recipes.html So you could make your own " Coke " formula, minus the coca probably :-) and just add fizz water. You can also make your own fizz water using a gizmo that puts vinegar and baking soda in one bottle and shakes it into another bottle. Or just use vinegar and baking soda directly (they cancel each other out, leaving acetate which is probably good for you). The essential oils in the recipe sound pretty good to me.
